YEAT: Am I being too picky or do I have a legitimate beef?
I bought a used Like New Matrix Ultimate Collection Boxset.
My message to seller: "Hi, do any of the Blu-ray discs have any scratches? Do they all play without issue? How beat up is the box? I assume it has an outside covering and then the actual packaging that holds the discs? If so, are they both included? Thanks!" Seller's response: "Hello, I just looked at the discs again. No Scratches a few fingerprints.I watched these 1 time They played great. The Main box & All Disc Cases are in Great condition.Been in a shelf since watched. Thanks" Item condition is like new. Here's a picture of one disc: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3768/1...4ff211d7_b.jpg The bottom of the discs have various minor scratches. May still play, but I like the disc to look good. Do I have a beef or is that acceptable as like new? Thanks! |

What is it I'm supposed to be looking at in this picture?

Re: YEAT: Am I being too picky or do I have a legitimate beef?
Right to the left of the b for Blu-ray. Various scratches from Neo to the edge of the disc.

Re: YEAT: Am I being too picky or do I have a legitimate beef?
I can't see any scratches or defects in the picture you attached.

Those two lines to the left of the b for Blu-ray and then the smaller one going from Neo to the edge. That's not disc art. Those are scratches.

Which side of the disc is scratched? I can't see anything in your picture.

Those two long lines and the smaller one are three scratches, go right into the disc.

I wonder how they got there. Strange to have scratches like that on the artwork side. |
Re: YEAT: Am I being too picky or do I have a legitimate beef?
Yeah it's hard to get good photographs of damage on discs. The only way I buy used is if I get the kind of answers he gave me. I went over every possible area I could have an issue with, and if he had even said minor scratches I would have walked away. I myself will buy DVDs and BDs and never watch them and sell them and they are like new because I've never touched them so it's possible to have like new used items. And I think his answer is pretty straightforward, "no scratches." Aside from that, there are various small scratches on the disc side of 3-4 discs of 6.

How much did you pay?
|
Re: YEAT: Am I being too picky or do I have a legitimate beef?
Yea, I thought that was part of the artwork since they're perfectly straight and appear to be black.
I'm not sure if it's easier to tell in person as opposed to a picture - but from what I'm seeing, it doesn't look like a big deal as it seems to be hard to notice anyway. |
Re: YEAT: Am I being too picky or do I have a legitimate beef?
$25. The thing is, I asked, are there scratches, specifically. He said no. I know what bothers me. I bought a like new set without scratches. eBay defines like new right on the auction page, as if it was taken right out of the package.

Spoiler:
Spoilerized for size. Here you can see where they go right through the silver part of the disc. |

Nope, regular joe seller. Would eBay side with me?

Re: YEAT: Am I being too picky or do I have a legitimate beef?
Looks more like a cut than a scratch. I would email him and ask how he missed those scratches. I would be anal about it, but that's just me.

And the case is fine, so it didn't happen during shipping.

Full refund and money to cover return shipping. That is in my opinion making me whole, putting me back to where I was before the transaction. I don't like scratched discs.

Re: YEAT: Am I being too picky or do I have a legitimate beef?
Good luck. What about full refund, you keep the discs? That's happened to me a couple of rare times I haven taken issue.
