The Trivia Quiz thread (new quiz posted on 11/26!!!)

While there didn't seem to be much interest, I'll go ahead and post some of these anyway.

This is not a contest, only some trivia quizzes that I create for some trivia buff friends of mine periodically. I try not to make them too difficult but they shouldn't be too easy either. I'll only post those that I created, not the ones that they create.

Quizzes will generally be on a theme and 10 questions in length. Answers posted together in spoilers so I would try and answer all of them before opening the spoiler tagged text. I apologize in advance that about half the quizzes I create seem to be geographical.

re: The Trivia Quiz thread (new quiz posted on 7/29)

If anyone gets a 9 or a 10, I am not making it hard enough. If you had given this to me before I researched and created it, I would have probably have missed 2. I might have gotten #1 and almost certainly would have missed #8. I would expect #4 to be a hard one for most people. I just happen to be more familiar with that country than most Americans due to some work I did in the past. I probably would have needed the clue to get #10 as well.

I missed #8, and then felt stupid about it. (War of 1812 and all.)

Missed #1, #6, and #10.

#1 is actually Soweto, and it's technically part of
Spoiler:
Johannesburg.

Doh, fixed. Cannot believe I hadn't noticed that typo since one of my best friends is from there.

Technically, you are correct on the second part, but it is still regarded by most locals as a separate city (and once was). How "city" is defined there is a little less cut and dry than it is in the U.S. Regardless, the point of the question was "do you know where Soweto is?"

Here is a picture of Simon Ammann from his first Olympics:

If you had watched the coverage of his event, the commentators couldn't shut up about the "Harry Potter" thing. He doesn't look much like that anymore.

I thought #1 was easy. It lulled me into a false sense of security. I only got #1, 5, and 6 right.

03/10 on both quizzes.

My Mom had a thing for Eric Heiden, which is the only way I knew that answer.

re: The Trivia Quiz thread (new quiz posted on 7/29)

I got all the ones that I should have gotten (having either seen the movie at all or in the past 10-15 years) except #7. That one was driving me nuts but I couldn't come up with it. I am proud of myself for getting #1 since it has been awhile since I have seen that.

5/10

#4 is from one of my all-time favorite movie scenes:

Spoiler:
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury: The prosecution is not going to get that man today, no ... because I'm gonna get him! My client, the Honorable Henry T. Fleming, should go right to fucking jail. The son-of-a-bitch is guilty!"
