And if not, or in addition to Snake, who around here would people nominate as a mod?

As a permanent mod, absolutely not. As a one day sort of thing, hell yes! Just imagine the chaos that maniac would unleash. It'd be total anarchy and I'm sure we'd love it... at first. Afterwards, much like he is day to day, his antics would wear thin if they were to continue. But as a brief shining star, that burns itself out in an instant, it would be glorious.

Why don't we just have a revolving weekly mod? Get a nomination list set up for some people who can take turns at it. I would put a caveat on there that whomever abuses this power gets an automatic suspension.

I think we should set up an "anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to be a sort of executive officer for the week, but all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs but by a two thirds majority in the case of" extra special stuff like banning people!!

Running a forum is work. I've only run a small site, with 50 users max.. But keeping on top of spam and spam registrations is a chore. Luckily there isn't much need for actual moderation of the users as we're a small community that have been together for like 10 years. But the vBulletin software is an impressive tool with all that it can do behind the scenes.

Naw. I'd hate to be a mod. Especially since it's volunteer work. And I've been managing to keep my t-shirts untucked lately. Though every so often I relapse.
