The "Holy Crap I'm Old!!" thread

I wanted to create a thread where people could come when they are generally feeling good about themselves, things are going well, etc. so that they could be reminded of the following:

Your life may be all peaches and cream right now, but you're still old.

I'll start:

The movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off came out 27 years ago today, on June 11, 1986.

You're welcome.

I posted almost the same thing about Jurassic Park being 20 years old today on Facebook. Still trying to process that one.

And I was roughly as old as Ferris was in the movie.

Mike Yastrzemski was drafted by the Orioles out of Vanderbilt. He's not Yaz's son, but his grandson.

All the underground, weird, hip and edgy music you were into when you were 19 is now on the oldies station they have playing at the dentist's office.

I still have the McDonald's Jurassic Park collectible cups -- including JP6 which was a bitch to find.

Re: The "Holy Crap I'm Old!!" thread

Next year will be my 15th year on DVDTalk.
When I joined DVDTalk I think there were a few hundred members
I look in the mirror and see my father
I graduated High School in 1977, the summer Star Wars and Smokey And The Bandit came out. Saw them both in the theater.
My kids are 24 and 22 this month
I have hemorrhoids older than a lot of the people on DVDTalk
My parents and in-laws were in their late 40's when I met my wife, I'm now 54.
No one on my father's side of the family has made it past mid 70's except for my father, he's now 80
When I was born there were only 49 states, Hawaii became an official state 2 months later
The first time I filled up the gas tank it was 55 a gallon and $5 would last a week or more.
My friends dad had a Beta machine that weighed about 50lbs and cost about $1500 in 1980 dollars. Great big push button sonofabitch.
First trip to Disneyworld in Florida was 1979, none of the other lands were built. Have pictures of the construction of Epcot Center
In 1975 I was 16, the cost of a new car around $4000
I bought my first house in 1986 for $60,000, the national average was $89,430

Sorry, I got carried away. Us old folks will do that, ya darn whippersnappers

We used to visit my grandparents in Florida during the late '60s. All that existed of Disneyworld was a gig empty field with a billboard "Future home of Disneyworld"

My mother was a huge Anderson fan.

My first vote was for Clinton, his first term.
