Your Favorite Clean Comedians...

I have so much more respect for folks who can be hilarious without swearing or being crass in their material, so who's your favorites among them? One of mine is definitely Tim Hawkins; here's a few clips.

Re: Your Favorite Clean Comedians...

I think Brian Regan is a pretty funny PG rated comedian.

Also, I saw Bob Saget had a special on Showtime recently. I'm sure he thinks it's hilarious that a guy known for Full House and America's Funniest Home Videos can say filthy things on stage, but instead of assuming that just telling filthy jokes would be funny, maybe he should try to write some funny filthy jokes.

Saget's act has ALWAYS been filthy. He was a stand up for a decade before Full House and had a filthy act.

Re: Your Favorite Clean Comedians...

I always liked Bill Cosby. Had a bunch of his albums when I was a kid and listened to them every day. Even though I haven't heard them in 30 years, I can still repeat the bits word for word.

Here's some vids:

I'm sure he was. I just think that he relies too much on the juxtaposition of him as a dirty comic and him as squeaky clean Danny Tanner and the host of AFHV. Just being dirty isn't funny.

I know he was dirty before the show, but I agree with you that he really just isn't all that funny.

Richard Pryor, the greatest stand-up comedian of all time.

And he practiced good hygiene.

My all-time fave is the "49" performance. Its never been released on DVD or Blu-Ray, but someone put the whole thing on YouTube a while back.

I had his albums as well. Great stuff.

Re: Your Favorite Clean Comedians...

Cosby rules this roost. The story of him and his brother Russell sharing a bed and continuously waking up their Dad... just brilliance. The way he could tell a simple story....

"We'd never seen The Belt ... but we'd heard about it. It was nine feet long ... and it had hooks on it so it would rip the meat from your back if it ever touched you."

These were the first 3 to come to my mind. Carlin's early stuff isn't blue.

Cosby's standup is amazing.

That said, I haven't heard a "Christian Comedian" yet that I thought was really funny.

I do agree that it is probably more difficult to do non-blue stand up comedy well.

I forgot Tom Wilson. I think he is pretty clean and super funny. He was really good on The Nerdist podcast.
