Never really have for comfort reasons, but now that I have plantar fasciitis I am supposed to wear them all the time. I got some old-man shoes just to wear around the house though so it's not unbearable.

Yep. I have carpet, too. I usually just wear socks when walking around indoors. Don't have pets, so not worried about stepping in some piss or shit.

None of the poll choices really describe me. I take my shoes off at home and in other peoples' homes if they want them off. I'm not a "Shoe Nazi." I find the metaphor of "Something Nazi" at the least tired, at the most offensive. So I guess I'm closest to that one though I would never word it that way.

I go barefoot or wear flip-flops at home for comfort; I don't ask others to. When visiting I keep my shoes on unless it's a no shoes household or it's people I know well enough to make myself at home around.

The only time I wear shoes in my house is when I'm getting ready to go somewhere or when I have a customer coming over to either drop off their computer or pick it up. I don't expect them to take their shoes off, but I do lay down a rubber-backed carpet runner from the door to my work area (only when it's nasty outside) so they don't screw up the carpet. If they take their shoes off that's fine but I don't ask them to. I hate wearing shoes in my own home but I usually wear socks in the wintertime, barefoot in the summer while I'm inside.

Yes, fairly frequently, followed by hopping on one foot to the shower to rinse off the puke-soiled one.

I solely (har har) go barefoot or socked at home or at the homes of others, unless an inviter insists there's no need to take off shoes.

I have the same rule for shoes as I do for pants: they come off as soon as I walk in the house, and I take them off at other people's homes unless they tell me not to.

I always take off my shoes as soon as I enter the house, although my wife doesn't take hers off until she gets to the bedroom. I will wear slippers when it's cold.

I don't ask guests to remove their shoes. The first floor is all hardwood and throw rugs anyway, and there's very very rarely a reason for a guest to go upstairs.

With as many scorpions as we have in our house, shoes are a must. Although, strangely enough, the only time I've been stung was when a scorpion crawled into my shoe while I was wearing it... so maybe it's not such a great strategy after all.
