I have a little phobia of stepping on those things myself.

For Christmas-themed ideas, I currently have:

60133
40222

Only problem I'm discovering is I don't have a table/display for these for the holidays. Thought about having a system where I deconstruct them after Christmas then put them together the following October/November for fun...and for easier storage.
I bought some of those large plastic tubs for bigger sets I didn't want to take apart. I also use those big 3 drawer plastic things they sell at target / walmart.

Re: Lego Talk!

Never liked the look of the Death Star. Looks great for kids to play with but not a showpiece like the other UCS sets.

Yeah, I drooled over that. It's going to be a great investment. Probably will sell for thousands once it goes out of stock in the following year.

That's a good idea. I think I know what drawers you're talking about.

I was on a Lego forum and people are keeping their boxes in pristine condition by putting the boxes in tubs as well. I even see people SELLING their boxes on eBay for a lot of money.

That's nuts. If i'd saved all the Lego boxes my family has gone through over the years, I'd need a spare bedroom in my house to hold them all.

Re: Lego Talk!

I have kept some of the boxes of the bigger sets flatten out. But now that I'm moving not sure if my wife has thrown them away...

Disney castle is tempting but I don't think I'll have the space to display it... or money to buy it

Re: Lego Talk!

I was able to snag a Disney castle on Monday. I'd been waiting for double VIP points to do it. I called a Lego store near a relative last Friday and they said they'd get some on Monday. I called when they opened and had one held.

I'm half tempted to sell it now on eBay and get another one later. They are going for $500 or so and it's only been out a month or two. They'll make them for at least a year, I think. Initial stock was conservative due to the price but I think it is selling better than they expected.

Re: Lego Talk!

I want the Disney Castle, just not sure if I can pull the trigger on a $400 set. Generally I save up my credit card points for a big set or two each year (via Amazon) but that's still a lot of dough out of pocket. I currently have about $200 in points. Of course I still have to rely on Amazon to offer it at SRP at some point.

Re: Lego Talk!

I think the Disney castle will appreciate well down the line. Consistent with what some of the larger Star Wars sets have done over the years. The high cost keeps a lot of people away but the set is over 4,000 pieces so the price per piece is below the 10 cents average.

It will be interesting to see what it goes for on the secondary market a few years after it ultimately gets discontinued.

Another option is to get this during Lego Shop's double points period. You'd get 700 points, which would be $35 credit towards another set, I think. 100 points is $5.

Re: Lego Talk!

I've been out of Lego for the most part since I got rid of my huge collection a few years ago. But I did have to break down and get the Simpsons sets. The house was a fun build and I still have the Kwik-E-Mart in the box. I have a feeling the latter will also appreciate well.

I also have the latest UCS Batman Tumbler still in a box. I'll probably build it but I know it's already out of production. Only other set sI have iare the Tower of Orthanc (very cool build) and the Star Wars final duel set from ROTJ. I have to stay away from the SW vehicle and ship sets or the madness will begin again.

I told my wife that I died a little inside when I flattened all of my lego boxes to save space.

Here is a picture of the drawer.

Re: Lego Talk!

I like those. Thanks for the link.

Is there any proper way to fold a Lego box and preserve it?

The pictures on the boxes are almost as fun to look at as making the sets.

I just cut the tape on the ends and flatten it out like any normal box.

Re: Lego Talk!

I never thought about flattening boxes, but I guess that's a space saver! What does everyone do with the extra Lego pieces you land up with?
