The "Florida Behaving Badly" Thread

Might as well create this to put all our wonderful stores from the Phallic State.
I ran across this today and it made me laugh.

A Jacksonville, Florida couple just got into some serious drama over Alanis Morissette's music: Allen Casey, 24, hit his 33-year-old boyfriend, Todd Fletcher, after Fletcher allegedly refused to listen to anything but the Canadian chanteuse. Only listening to Alanis Morissettte really takes remembering the 90's to a whole new level. And c'mon, how did Tori Amos not make the playlist at least once?

Casey apparently hit Fletcher in the face with a (jagged little) plate and Fletcher had a big gash to prove it. When a cop approached Casey in a nearby park, he admitted to it.

An all-Alanis day really shouldn't be that annoying. Think of the vocal range! It would be kind of like working in a younger dentist's office all of the time. Sounds retty tolerable? As Alanis says, "You live you learn, You love you learn, You cry you learn, You lose you learn, You bleed you learn, You scream you learn." You just don't hit your boyfriend in the face with a plate. But, you learn.

I live in Jacksonville, I'm going to take that story as a win since nobody got in a car wreck, shot, hit by a car or otherwise killed.

Lawsuit accuses cops of rough treatment, leaving woman half naked during Leesburg Bikefest

By Eloísa Ruano González, Orlando Sentinel

5:53 p.m. EDT, October 10, 2012

An Ocala woman who was arrested on charges of being drunk and disorderly during Leesburg's Bikefest last year filed a lawsuit this week accusing law-enforcement officials of knocking out her front teeth and leaving her half-naked for thousands to see.

Ashleigh Davis, 32, was arguing with a friend's boyfriend when Leesburg police officers and Lake County deputy sheriffs asked her and the friend to leave, said Stan Plappert, Davis' attorney. When she refused, Plappert said the officers tackled and "hog-tied" her, handcuffing her hands and feet behind her back.

"During the tackle, her bikini top came off," the Ocala attorney said.
With her breasts exposed, Davis was carried off in a golf cart through the crowded festival and taken to the police station, where she remained topless for at least two hours, Plappert said. The booking-room video camera captured the topless woman lying on the concrete floor, surrounding by male officers.

Davis, who is studying to be a nurse, was still half-naked when she was transported to the Lake County Jail in Tavares, he added.
"The way she was treated was despicable," Plappert said. "It was inhumane."

On Tuesday, she filed the suit in Marion County against the two agencies, alleging officers and deputies used excessive force and humiliated her. She accused them of groping, manhandling and gawking at her in the lawsuit, which named 11 law-enforcement officials, including Lake County K-9 Deputy Sheriff Richard Sylvester.

He shot and killed Andrew Lee Scott in July after the Leesburg man answered his door holding a gun when deputies on the hunt for an attempted-murder suspect mistakenly knocked on it. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement found the shooting was justified.

Davis said in a complaint to Leesburg police that an officer also put his hand over her mouth to try to get her to stop screaming but knocked her head to the ground when she bit him and broke three of her teeth.

"[He] said 'now you will fit in just right…' after I was screaming about him busting my teeth out," she said.

The department looked into the complaint, filed days after the April 9, 2011, arrest. However, the allegations of excessive use of force by officers were "unfounded," Leesburg police Maj. Steve Rockefeller said in the report. He said officers did not "direct" Davis to the ground and that she and her friend were "continuously resisting deputies and officers throughout the arrest and attempts of booking."

Davis never filed a complaint with the Lake County Sheriff's Office, spokesman Lt. John Herrell said.

"Therefore, no investigation was conducted."

Herrell said he could not comment further because the lawsuit is pending.

Gross.

He says that he's made plenty of mistakes in his life -- this might be the biggest.

Police arrested Benjamin Ashauer on Thursday morning in Tampa, Fla., accusing him of looking at child pornography while seated on a bench outside a strip mall, ABC News reports.

A shopper reportedly noticed Ashauer viewing children in various sexual situations on his computer at about 9:30 a.m. The shopper led police to the 29-year-old suspect, and they asked him if they could see his laptop. Ashauer agreed, and detectives found a "substantial" amount of graphic files depicting children from infancy to about 12 years old.

They discovered enough materials to charge Ashauer with 50 counts of child pornography possession.

Investigators said Ashauer was using a site like "the Napster of child porn," where predators can share and download pictures. He was allegedly using several Wi-Fi connections at the strip mall to access the Internet, Bay News 9 reports. Many child predators use open Wi-Fi signals to avoid detection of their home IP address, officers said.

On his Facebook page, Ashauer regularly asks for forgiveness and admits making mistakes, but does not specifically reference the child porn allegations.

"I love God, I have made a lot of mistake [sic] in my life," he wrote on Oct. 11. "I'm not perfect person."

Wasn't sure which "behaving badly" thread this should go in, cops or Florida, but as the investigation in to the cops is still underway, I figured it was more than appropriate here.

Jacksonville father finally nabs peeping Tom, police say
A Jacksonville man told police his family had spotted someone looking through the windows of their home on several occasions, at times finding damage to window screens afterward.

Sunday police received a call from the man's 15-year-old daughter who said her father was restraining a man in their yard.

"The victim told me she was seated in the living room when she saw a sillhouette outside the back window," the officer said in the report.

The girl told her father, who then confronted the suspect outside.

When police arrived at the home in the 6000 block of Forest Stump Lane, they found the father holding James K. Lowery, 60, on the ground in the backyard.

"The suspect had minor injuries due to the complainant confronting him," police said.

According to property records, Lowery is a neighbor of the family.

Lowery, chief engineer at WJXT TV-4, had no explanation as to what he was doing in the yard, but admitted to getting there under his own power even after drinking "an entire bottle of wine," police said.

He has been charged with trespassing with intent to commit an offense, public intoxication and resisting an officer without violence, according to the Duval County jail website.

I just want to go on record as being completely against this thread. The only way to properly shame Floridians is to have frequent/constant new threads everytime they fuck up. Just bumping this one doesn't have nearly the same effect.

What happened to just date raping?

A Florida woman who celebrated her 21st birthday last week by going out with a man she met through a series of texts ended up getting carjacked by her date following a romantic walk on the beach.

Nimeha Milien says she hadn't met 19-year-old Donald McGee Jr. of Hollywood before they went out for the first time last Friday evening, but the two had texted back and forth several times prior to their date.

According to Milien, McGee was a perfect gentleman — right up until the carjacking, that is.

The two spent some time walking and talking at Ocean Inlet Park in Palm Beach County, before ending the night in the parking lot of a Wendy's on Boynton Beach Boulevard.

After telling Milien he was waiting for his brother to come pick him up, McGee suddenly produced a .380-caliber Kel Tec handgun and pointed it at the woman's face.

McGee then ordered Milien out of the car, and proceeded to drive away.

Milien ran to a nearby gas station and asked a patron to phone 911.

Boynton Beach police officers pursued McGee for some eight miles along Interstate 95 before he lost control of the car and ended up by the side of the road.

After a brief attempt to flee, McGee was arrested and charged with armed carjacking, robbery with a firearm, possession of marijuana, driving without a license, and fleeing police.

He reportedly told the cops he needed to "get out of the area," but wouldn't elaborate.

As for Milien, she says she's done with dating for a while, but is mostly just happy to be alive.

"I'm glad that I'm alive to be able to see my 21st birthday because I want to be able to make a difference in this world," she told WPBF News. "If I had died on that night, I wouldn't have done anything."
