I sometimes wonder what happened to high school friends, but to obsess about it for years is unhealthy and weird. This was a a strange read, and whether it was meant to or not, the OP definitely had homosexual undertones with all the anger and resentment and crying.

Re: Friend from long ago committed suicide, 3 years after his twin sister died

OK, fair amount of responses so far, but some of them confirm why I didn't convey my feelings- I had NO sexual attraction to him and certainly no desire to suck him off, and at the time even being suspected of being gay was not a good thing- it's certainly more acceptable now but honestly that wasn't what was going on here. If you want to think I was gay for him anyways then fine. His twin sister wasn't what I'd call unattractive but pretty goofy-looking- their faces were about the same except with male and female features.

Yes, it is pretty weird that they just now announced his death after 3 months. I don't know why that was done, but the notice about his sister dying was also a while after the fact.

The general problem I had back then was that I was pretty much too shy to confront ANYONE, and I also have Asperger's though I didn't find out about that until age 26. Since then my interpersonal skills have improved. This wouldn't have mattered as much though if he hadn't gotten so distant.

It's getting late and I'm on the verge of becoming incoherent, but mainly what I think about this is had he been a better friend and at least stayed in touch, I might have helped him get through what caused him to kill himself.

You seem a bit obsessed with a guy you stopped being friends with when you were 16.
And that's the thing- I DIDN'T stop being friends with him, more like he stopped being friends with me. I might have just forgotten about him after that, but it was weird that we ended up living close to each other later and hardly speaking, with him becoming the type of person he used to despise. And yes, I acknowledge that I had a problem by not confronting him about it.

And yes, I can see this as a bit creepy from the outside, again I haven't put much thought into typing this and should be going to sleep now anyways. Glad some of you are enjoying it in whatever way you are.

"might have" are key words here. Yes, you might have, but then again there might not have been anything you could have done to prevent his suicide.

(Some suicidal people are just wired that way and onto a road to destruction that no-one can stop them from taking.)

Had you been more involved in his life and the result was still the same (his suicide) would you unfairly blame yourself for not being able to prevent his death? From your posting it sounds like you probably would.

No, at least I'd say I tried. I would feel a lot worse right now had I not told him to call me the last time I saw him, even though he didn't. I've been suicidal before too, so I know you just need some sense beaten into you most of the time.

I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

You cried about him being a sell out because he started smoking?

And do people hold memorial services a few weeks after someone passes away?

Holy shit that OP was some twisted and hilarious shit.

'...and I was so upset I cried and wrecked my car and then changed my panties and played with my Barbies while boiling my 'best friend's' rabbit in a pot on the stove...'

Remind me never to post a thread about my true feelings.

If peeing in someone's butt is the ultimate sign of respect, responses in this thread are its exact opposite.
