To make a serious point, this accident might unintentionally start the wheels turning for Comic Con organizers to move to a city capable of handling such a large amount of people.

If Comic Con moves to Vegas because of this, well, thank you Twilight.

Re: Twilight Fan Hit By Car & Killed At Comic Con

I won't make light of the situation but I've been all over downtown San Diego and there's no way I'd jaywalk across the street anywhere. Sounds like she was trying to dart to the other side of the sidewalk but got caught up in her flip flops and tripped.

I haven't been to Comic Con since 2006 but didn't someone die there within the past few years?

Is that why they have these signs down there?

There's a Memorial Fund set up now....

On July 10, 2012 we lost a member of the TwiFandom to an accident. All funds will help her family pay for funeral expenses. Please donate!

Crematation is better for everyone, and doesn't require a "Memorial Fund".

But, wouldn't that burn up the stake?

Reading how she crossed the street and tripped over her own feet and into the car, I had a flash back to the prologue of Magnolia. It would make for such an unintentionally hilarious scene.

How is San Diego not capable of handeling a Comic con crowd? The convention convention center is huge, tons of hotels close and lots to do outside of the con. I know Vegas is convintion central, but it is not like San Diego is Joplin, MO.

she tried to stop to avoid an oncoming Subaru
Common mistake. Unlike the Suzuki, the Subaru has excellent eyesight and will pounce quickly even if you stand extremely still.

No, there was a skirmish and someone got stabbed with a pen. Pretty minor. I was sitting in the middle of Hall H and it happened towards the back.

I've learned early in my lifetime to not try and stop oncoming cars. So far, I'm still alive.

Rumour has it Summit is already working on a reboot of the franchise. Also, Universal announced that they're adapting some fanfic-turned-S&M-series called 50 Shades of Grey into a movie (or a series of movies). So I doubt we've seen the last of this bullshit.

I can't believe people are making light of this. There are lives at stake!

Because San Diego, SDPD and SDCC let the twi-tards line up early and camp out overnight back in 2008. And since then, people don't bother to even get a hotel room anymore. If SDCC and SPDP discouraged the early/overnight camping and made people disperse, I doubt they would have had this sort of accident (which it has been amazing something like this hasn't happened until now with the sheer amount of people along the convention center.)

6,500. Not sure why Twilight would keep you away. They didn't have a panel last year and it's not like they're the majority of people in Hall H for their panel. They are more vocal and tend to wear clothes showing their love for the movie.

And, technically, this didn't happen at Comic-Con since it hasn't started.

Sounds like Darwin stepped in.
Typical Team Edward move. You'd never see a Jacob fan do something like this!

You realize you Comic-con guys that obsess over comic book and fantasy characters are not that far removed from... oh forget it.

Twilight did have a panel last year. It was the reason that I didn't bother trying to line up for anything in Hall H last year. The line for Thursday started ridiculously early like it did this year. SDCC did ask people not to line up this year before they were set up (they even sent me a text message telling me not to line up yet LOL).

Hope the use of "you" isn't referring to myself because I don't read comics. I attended Comic-Con mainly for movie and pop culture stuff.

This is probably why Twilight fans lined up early this year. Last year cast members delivered them breakfast.
