YAPP: Favorite frozen pizza?

The Best Pizza Chain? thread didn't quite get off the ground as far as branching it out to cover frozen pizza as well, so why not a separate poll?

I love junk food, but I draw the line at frozen pizza.

Tombstones a good, however for the price its hard to beat a party pizza, it isnt great but for around a dollar its acceptable.

Re: YAPP: Favorite frozen pizza?

I'm actually interested in trying the Home Run Inn if I can find it locally, and a cheap Totino's would probably make a nice snack/quick meal.

I tend to get DiGiorno's rising crust, but I haven't had it in a while for a couple reasons:

-My freezer is too full to fit the damn Costco four-packs

-A few years ago, I went to a WNBA game (save the jokes for the sports forum) and got a personal pizza, and it was DiGiorno's. Granted, it probably was the same as the kind I ate at home, but something about paying ballpark prices and getting a DiGiorno's was a big turnoff. I'm sure it's still fine for home consumption.

I like Totino's because they're only $1.00

Re: YAPP: Favorite frozen pizza?

DiGiorno is my favorite, with Freschetta coming in a close second.

Tombstones aren't bad for what they are; the "brick oven" pizzas are my favorite but they've become difficult to come by where I live.

One of my all time favorites was the DiGiorno pepperoni deep dish. They seem to have discontinued those a long time ago because I haven't seen one in years.

Not a fan of Totino's, Jeno's, Red Baron, Jack's or Tony's.

I would love to try the American Flatbread if it wasnt so insanely overpriced. I like the Red Baron pepperoni and Freschetta.

Re: YAPP: Favorite frozen pizza?

I've only had Freschetta once and didn't really like it. The crust was too cheesy or something--I guess I could try it again since I don't remember it that well.

The California Pizza Kitchen Sicilian (pepp/sausage) thin crust is not bad in personal-pizza size.

Re: YAPP: Favorite frozen pizza?

I used to love Mystic until I could no longer get it in my area. Now, I usually just go with Red Baron.

Recently though, I found a DiGiorno Chicken Parm pizza that was awesome. Need to grab more of those.

Re: YAPP: Favorite frozen pizza?

Of all the frozen pizzas I've ever had in my lifetime, I like Freschetta Naturally Rising Classic Supreme the best. We add our own extra pepperoni, cheese, & mushrooms, (sometimes onions & green peppers) and bake it on a perforated pizza pan, they turn out pretty darned good.

Of course nothing beats pizzeria pizza, but Freschetta's not bad for frozen. -kd5-

Because frozen pizza is an abomination. It's like eating a photo of a steak: not the same thing.

Glad you said Heggie's! Definitely my second favorite frozen pizza after Bernatello's!

Re: YAPP: Favorite frozen pizza?

I know most folks that resort to frozen pizza don't always read nutrition labels, but I really like the thin crust versions of Kashi, Newman's Own and California Pizza Kitchen. All three are pretty good and somewhat less unhealthy than those big-ass "stuffed crust with breadsticks on the side" monstrosities.

There's also a brand called Dr. Oetker that's really good too, and they're dirt cheap at $3-$4 each.

I've tried these, and their pretty decent (for frozen).
One thing that bugs me though, is the fact they included artifical flavorings.
Seems totally unnecessary for pizza.

I thought you had typed "Haggis"

Nothing hits the spot like sheep's stomach filled with meat and barley, covered in cheese and tomato sauce, and baked on a bread crust in a brick oven.

Re: YAPP: Favorite frozen pizza?

One thing I have to say about frozen pizza that has changed in the last few years is the wide-range of crusts you can get. I tend to like the thin crust pizza nowadays so it's nice to see that option more and more, even though I don't eat frozen very often.

Re: YAPP: Favorite frozen pizza?

I used to love this Freschetta pizza with sauce-stuffed crust. It was yummy, and I always thought the idea of putting sauce in the crust made more sense and was more flavorful than cheese. It must be discontinued now because I haven't seen it in a few years.

There are a few different ones that I've been known to buy. A lot of it depends on if there's anything on sale. Once again, much like the pizza chain thread, there are all these brands that I have never seen or heard of before.

Mama Celeste, regular cheese one. Nothing fancy but I like the taste. Pallermos is my next choice.

Stouffer's French bread. It's crunchy, I love it!
