In the first video, the rug is turned the way you would expect it if the door was where the guy ran into the glass. Poor design.

In the second video, the rugs clearly mark the route to take. Poor idiot.

If the Apple stores have a history of people smacking into their windows, then it's probably poor design.

Although, idiocy can't be ruled out in this case.

I'm just trying to get over the fact that an 83 year old had enough of a head of steam to crash into the glass hard enough to break her nose. Other than that, stupid.

When you're that old, your body isn't in the same shape as it was say... 50 years prior. You don't heal as fast, things snap and break a lot easier. Your eyesight and reflexes aren't what they used to be.

Re: Woman sues Apple for $1m for walking into glass door

The thing is most commercial insurance policies (and homeowners policy as well) have "Medical Payments" up to a certain amount. This is separate from liability in that no fault needs to be assigned. You get hurt on the property, you are covered.

For example, a friend of my wife's was with her toddler at the grocery store. Leaving the store, to the parking lot, the toddle managed to wiggle out of the cart and fell and broke his arm. She took him to the ER thinking it was her/the kids fault. But she called the store who confirmed the injury took place on property (with their security camera's) and paid all of the medical bills (but nothing more).

This coverage is there to save time and money by not having to prove fault on relatively minor injuries. Or when for example someone just falls without a reason.

Obviously she is going more than getting her broken nose fixed, or I bet Apple would have already paid (or their insurance company would have already paid assuming they are not self insured).

In the article I read there were markings on the door, she did not see them, maybe Apple should sue her for damaging their property.

People whined incessantly about the old woman with the hot coffee, fail to mention that her supersized settlement was severely limited by an appeals court, and use her as a poster child for "frivolous" lawsuits. Same basic thing happens here and everyone hopes she wins. Weird.

Re: Woman sues Apple for $1m for walking into glass door

Hmm, i wonder why i can see myself when I'm walking towards that open space, it's almost like there's something there. Oh well, I'll just keep walking, nothing bad could happen right?
