Need Cheap DisneyWorld Ticket

This weekend I'll be in Orlando, FL and would like to meet some friends for a day or two at Disneyworld. Maybe even after 4PM pass because I'll be busy most every day. Where would I get the cheapest tickets? Some of the hotel have packages with tickets apparently but I've already booked a hotel on Priceline that doesn't offer anything. Don't know if checking out a timeshare is worth discounted tickets.

Universal Studios too while we're at it.

Any recommendations on websites or places in Orlando to get cheap ass tickets?

Re: Need Cheap DisneyWorld Ticket

Mousesavers.com is the site Disney fanatics use to find discounts:

http://www.mousesavers.com/

Here's the section on WDW tickets:

http://www.mousesavers.com/tickets.html

and here's the section on Universal Orlando tickets:

http://www.mousesavers.com/universal...html#admission

If anyone in your party has a Military or DOD ID card, you can get discounted tickets at Shades Of Green.

http://www.shadesofgreen.org/ATS.htm

A little advice, stay away from the local ticket brokers. Most of them are scams reselling partially used tickets that usually get confiscated at the front gate. And be skeptical of any place that offers an amazing discount. The legit WDW ticket discounts are usually only a couple bucks.

Re: Need Cheap DisneyWorld Ticket

Ditto to everything said above. You can also get Disneyworld tickets pretty cheap at Disney Stores and at AAA offices (maybe online too). I hope your are staying on Disney property, much better experience. Make sure to get a park hopper so you can go into any of the parks all you want so you can spend the morning in one, afternoon in another, dinner in a third, etc.

Great points also remember if you do stay at one of the parks hotel you can have anything bought at the parks sent directly to your room so you don't have to carry it around all day.

Re: Need Cheap DisneyWorld Ticket

After all my research, the only place to get real tickets at a "discount" rate is

http://www.orlandofuntickets.com/

and even then they aren't that much cheaper.

Any sort of real discount on DW tickets are hard to find. You can go to one of the sketchy souvenir stores on the side of the road where they sell partially used tickets but YMMV with that. Universal tickets are pretty easy to come by on the cheap though.

Become friends with someone that works for Disney. Just about the only way to score cheap tickets.

Or be a Florida resident. Us out of state folks get boned on these tickets.

Thanks BigDave. I'll have to check those links.

No, I'll be a 40 minute drive away so no on the Disney property. Made a critical error on Priceline which I've never done by rushing to get a hotel and didn't realize the hotel I got might be so far away. I may not be available to go until 5pm so the park hopper might be a waste of money for me.

If you can't go until 5pm then you are not going to get your money's worth.

Luckily, the Magic Kingdom is open pretty late this week. So even if you get there at 5pm, you'll still have 7+ hours.

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/calendars/

You might have problems going on New Year's Eve (Saturday Night). Sometimes the parks reach capacity and they'll close the gate. Check out the NYE party at Universal Citywalk. That looks like it'll be fun.

I agree. Disney has a special offer for people attending a convention I'm attending at Disney Coronado hotel. $50 for after 4PM. I'll have to see if I can get it.

Thanks for the warning. I understand DW will stay open late because of the celebrating.

Re: Need Cheap DisneyWorld Ticket

If you are planning to go to Magic Kingdom on Saturday (New Year's Eve) you really need to get there by 10am-11am. Last year they reached park capacity by 11am and let no one else in for the day.

That's a good price. I totally forgot about convention tickets.

If it's this Saturday, make sure the parks are still open before you buy a ticket. I hear in past years they've reached capacity around Noon. Even if you have a ticket, you're not getting in. If the Magic Kingdom is closed, you might have better luck at EPCOT which has a lot of open space and can fit more people.

This thread might give you some info on what to expect New Years Eve:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2795053

And here's some info on WDW capacity closures:

http://touringplans.com/walt-disney-...acity-closures

Also keep in mind, there's no booze in the Magic Kingdom. So if you want to drink on NYE, you have to go to EPCOT.

Don't think I want to go that early on New Year's eve. I can't get figures around New Year's without subscribing to that site.

It's been over 25 years since I've been to DW. At the time, I went to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. Never been to Animal Kingdom. Is it worth it? If I go to 2 parks which should I select?

It really depends on how much you enjoy animal exhibits. A major part of the park is the Safari ride and the two walking trails (one with gorillas and the other with tigers). It's a really beautiful, well themed park.

But outside of the animals, it's kinda light on rides and shows. Expedition Everest and the Finding Nemo show are excellent. Nothing else really stands out. Personally, I love the park. But I know a lot of people that don't get it.

Because the animals head back to their enclosures in the late afternoon, the park always closes early. I think Animal Kingdom closes at 8pm this weekend. So if you're going after 4pm, you won't have much time, and the animals might be gone for the day.

I'd do Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Those are my two favorites. Magic Kingdom is the traditional Disney experience with all the classic rides. And even though EPCOT doesn't have a lot of rides, it's fun to walk around World Showcase. When we go for 7-10 days, we probably spend more time at EPCOT than any other park.

If I only had 2 days, I wouldn't do Hollywood Studios. Outside of Tower Of Terror, Rock'n'Roller Coaster and Toy Story Mania, everything else is pretty forgettable. The Indiana Jones show is alright and some people like Star Tours. But the Great Movie Ride is a dud and the Backlot Tour is a waste of time. It's my least favorite of the 4 parks.

If you like thrill rides, you might want to consider Universal Islands Of Adventure. They have some good coasters and the new Harry Potter section is great.

Yea, I'm not even sure if Animal kington is open until 8, I thought it always closed around 5 or 6. You definitely need to go to animal kingdom first thing in the morning to see the animals. As said, they are used to going back into their cover in the middle of the day when they are used to it getting hot and it isn't a meal time.

Re: Need Cheap DisneyWorld Ticket

You need to pick up this book,

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/unof...-9781118012338

Course you are already not doing the most important thing, getting to the park before they open. However, they do recommend leaving the park in the middle of the day for lunch, nap and such. And returning later. You can look at some of the plans of the "returning later" part.

And I disagree with saying not worth going if your not going till 5. IMO, several of the end of day shows are worth the price of admission alone. Be sure and see the end of day show at Disney Hollywood. Tho to get a good seat you will need to get there about 2 hours ahead. It is worth it. Plus a lot of people with small kids who have been there all day, will be leaving as the kids can't take it. And lastly IMO they are much different parks at night. And lots of fun!!

Yeah, unfortunately, I have to account for getting there late and missing all the day stuff. I don't think I want to sacrifice a convention day to spend the entire day at one of the parks.

I would like to spend a day at Universal but don't know if the friend wants to do that. He's a Disney fanatic. I'll have to check their hours because I remember Universal (in CA) closing early.

Thanks for the info so far, guys. Keep it coming.

For the past couple years, my favorite guidebook has been the Complete Walt Disney World by Julie & Mike Neal. The new 2012 version just came out about 2 weeks ago. Tons of full-color photos on every page. Concise, easy to digest info.

+1

After 5pm is actually a great time to go. The crowds have died down. The kids have stopped bouncing off the walls. And if you don't want to watch the nighttime shows, the ride lines are empty. And I love the outdoor rides when it gets dark. Jungle Cruise and Big Thunder are totally different at night. They do a great job of lighting. It gives the parks a totally different feel.

It's CRAZY this time of the year. I shudder at the thought of being stuck at MK on new year's. The weather has gotten nice though.

Universal, Disney (Animal and Magic Kingdom and Hollywood), and even the new Legoland had to turn away people today.

Information overload. I remember reading and carrying the official Disney World guide when I was last there. I'll just have to wing it along with friends who may know some tricks.

Universal hours are short outside of the new year. I'd like to go but may have to skip it.
