Patrice O'Neal RIP

Patrice O'Neal, a fixture in the New York comedy scene for two decades who was most recently seen in the Comedy Central Roast Of Charlie Sheen, has passed away according to sources close to the comedian.

Talk show host Opie of the Opie & Anthony Radio Show tweeted this morning, "Yes, it's true that our pal Patrice O'Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I've ever known PERIOD."

O'Neal suffered a stroke in October after a long battle with diabetes. The announcement about his condition was made by a group of his comedian friends and peers on the popular Sirius radio show, but few details have been made known since then at the wishes of his family.

O'Neal was best known for his darkly playful sense of humor and for saying exactly what was on his mind. While O'Neal was polarizing voice who was often as disliked as much as he was beloved, he was revered by peers and audiences alike for his fearlessness, a characteristic that was in bold relief during the Sheen Roast.

Pretty sad. Just watched him on a rerun of the Charlie Sheen roast.

Re: Patrice O'Neal RIP

Sad to hear, but he didn't exactly make his health a priority. I thought he was a very funny guy.

So, is "How I Met Your Mother" going to stay on the air? I wonder what they are going to do with the Barney character after this.

Re: Patrice O'Neal RIP

O'Neal was not only a roaster at the Sheen event but also the target of several jokes related to his health issues, including his diabetes and weight.

Amy Schumer joked that "Patrice has always been destined for stardom, and diabetes. So tonight is not just the roast of Charlie Sheen, it's also a farewell party for Patrice's foot."

Sheen himself quipped: "The only thing slower than [Anthony Jeselnik's] delivery is Patrice O'Neal's metabolism. When I first saw Patrice on this stage, I thought the same thing we all did: Why is Mike Tyson's mother here?"

O'Neal fought back at the event, saying: "How the f--- can I be too mean after all this shit? I can't believe it. I'm dying of diabetes and you motherfuckers are like, 'Oh, that evil fat fuck.' "

I would get it's a play on the name sort of baring a resemblance to Neil Patrick Harris. But it doesn't work very well.

Re: Patrice O'Neal RIP

I'm confused by the thread title and prefer not read a single word of the posts prior to mine.

What exactly did Patrice O'Neal rip? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say a bag of pork skins?

Re: Patrice O'Neal RIP

One of my favorites. Had the #1 spot in my stand up comedian power rankings for a year or so back before he was one of the warehouse guys on 'the office'

Re: Patrice O'Neal RIP

I doubt Patrice O'Neal would want everyone to be clutching their pearls and gasping in horror over mean things that were said at a roast.

Hmm, for some reason I was thinking his name was Patrick O'Niel. I guess I should do some research before posting.

Re: Patrice O'Neal RIP

How ironic that the actor who played the youngest TV doctor of all time, has died at such a young age.
