Pre-lit Xmas tree question

Picked up a pre-lit tree. There is a plug to add a lighted treetop. The instructions warn against adding addition lights, may damage tree and void warranty. I understand plugging additional lights directly into the trees lights might screw things up, but what if any additional lights are completely isolated? Can't see how that would cause a problem.

Re: Pre-lit Xmas tree question

It shouldn't. Adding extra lights to the existing strand can cause too much current for them and blow a fuse (I've done that). But plugging them into a different outlet should be fine
