Partially torn Rotator Cuff, now what?

After a week of having really bad pain in my bicep area and eventaully moving to m shoulder I went in and saw the doc. The pain combined with the fact I have no strength in that arm earned me a diagnosis of a partially torn Rotator Cuff. He gave me a sling and some Vicodin and refered me to orthropedics. The soonest appointment I could get is 3 weeks out. I can't function for 3 weeks without the use of my left arm. I wear the sling when I'm not working on something, but my computer is set up to favor my left hand and I can't switch it without rearrarging the room. Has anyone had this problem before? Am I going to damage it more by using that arm once in a while for 5-6 hours per day? What should I expect when I see the ortrhopedic doc? This is really painful and a major pain in the ass (and arm ), any info would be appreciated.

I had a torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder. My doctor made me go to hydrosonic therapy for a year but the pain never subsided. He finally gave me a cortisone shot and the pain was gone instantly.

Re: Partially torn Rotator Cuff, now what?

I was under the impression Cortisone shots were a temporary solution

There's no way I could afford a year of physical therapy. Any exercises the can do in PT I can probably do at home.

The best advice I can give you: learn to masturbate with your right hand.

Re: Partially torn Rotator Cuff, now what?

You need to learn to do things more 'off the cuff' as opposed to 'on the cuff' which is just silly.

You really should have known better.
