I'm trapped in relatives house with two snorers and a mother-in-law

Down in Georgia visiting wife's son and their family. Wife's mom and dad are also here. They are divorced.

Wife sleeping next to me, snoring.
Her dad is here with his wife, she is in the next room and sounds like she's revving up the chainsaw.

Normally I just roll the wife over to get her to stop, but it isn't working tonight.
Nothing I can do about her dad's wife.

Mom-in-law is up stairs in the living room sleeping on a chair.

I have no where to go in this house to get away from the snoring and the mother-in-law.

Mom-in-law sleeps in a motorized chair because she weighs about 350 or more and can't sleep in a bed. She needs the chair to go up so she can get out of the chair. She is in her 60's and we are surprised she's still alive.

So I'm here with the wife in her son's house, with her father, his wife and my mother-in-law.

But wait there's more.

...

My wife's son's father and his family also came by for dinner.
Now the odd thing besides the fact that my wife was about 16 (now about 46) when she had her son with this guy("Bob") is that his mother is married to my wife's father.

From what I've been able to make out, is that wife's father, my father-in-law, had an affair with my wife's boyfriend's mother. I'm not sure what went first, affair for
F-in-Law or wife's dalliance with guy.

F-in-law divorces m-in-law marries Bob's mom.
Anyway she's snoring up a storm, wife is snoring up a storm, miserable M-in-law is up stairs sleeping in a chair and here I am, waiting......

whotony, are you sure you're not a character in a George R.R. Martin novel?

Wife: 46, has 30 year old son. Let’s call this son "Mark". Wife snores and is laying next to Whotony.
Bob: Biological father of Mark. Bob’s mother is now married to wife’s father so Bob’s mother is Whotony’s mother-in-law. Let’s call her MIL2. MIL2 snores and is in the next room.

Wife’s mother is MIL1. She is morbidly obese but doesn’t snore.

And yes, Mark’s biological mother and father are step-siblings.

Anyway, Whotony is in a house with two mother-in-laws, one of which snores, and a wife that is also snoring.

^That's basically it.
The only thing keepIng Mil1 from snoring is sleeping upright in a motorized Lounge chair, ordinarily she snores louder than anything I have ever heard.

The solution is obvious. Kill them all, then burn the place to the ground.

Does that make The Infidel your brother-in-law, then?

Re: I'm trapped in relatives house with two snorers and a mother-in-law

As I'm sure most married people have, I've been in this situation more than I can count: insanely overcrowded house, crazy sleeping arrangements, nothing to do during the day, kids losing their minds, annoying in-laws (some I get along with, some I have nothing in common with) etc. Usually this is when we're on "vacation" after I've had a stressful time at work and need to relax. Needless to say, I usually come back more stressed and tired than when I left. I think this is why some people hate the holidays so much (not me, but I understand).

After 14 years of marriage and because of the 1,500 miles of distance between me and my family, I've come to realize that travelling to see family just isn't worth it more than about once a year. This is especially true if you have children. My kids miss out on seeing their grandparents etc, but they probably hate going even more than I do as they're just "along for the ride" and often have nothing to do. I understand this probably makes me a selfish bastard.

Eventually you have to go see family. I've found the solution is to get out of the house and get a hotel room for at least a couple of nights with just my family. It give you an out, especially if your in laws live in an area where there is stuff to do. It adds to the cost of a trip, but it makes it tolerable. I actually had a pretty good trip this summer following this plan.

They live about 60 miles north of atlanta. Nothing to do or see here xcept for the Cabbage Patch place.

Her son has a new born so that's mostly why we're here.

Only two more days......

Another solution is to only maintain relationships with the family members that you like. That's worked well for my family for many years. Now, when my boyfriend and I eventually get married, who knows what that will entail. We're already talking about flying his mother in from California for Thanksgiving next year.

Luckily, neither the wife nor I have parents or much family beyond that, so I've never had to deal with that, but it sounds horrible.

When we visit my parents, we stay in a nearby hotel. It's either that or sleeping on a twin mattress pushed against an air mattress on the floor. It's cold on that floor.

Yep. It's called Babyland General Hospital. They try to make it look like a regular hospital, and they pretend like the dolls are real babies. The whole thing is weird and creepy

Have loud sex with the wife. That will drown out all the other snoring.

I think I've heard this one before. You can't operatate on your wife because she's your son, right?

Get some disposable foam earplugs. They sell them at most drugstores. A little difficult to get used to at first, but they do work. Also, drink lots of booze.
