Fall Back in Time AKA old timers, set your clocks back!

Daylight Saving Time (United States) began Sunday, March 13, 2011, and ends Sunday, November 6, 2011.
Except Arizona and Hawaii. Move your clocks ahead 1 hour in spring and back 1 hour in fall ("Spring forward, fall back").

Because all the young kids don't have manual clocks. The bi-annual turn your clock event. Hoorah! Extra hour of sleep so before you go to bed tonight, move the clocks/watches back one hour. Let the griping begin.

Just means my kids will wake me up at 5:30 a.m. tomorrow instead of 6:30.

Set their clocks forward when they go to bed tonight.

I think Obama's "October surprise" next year should be to ban Daylight Saving. He'll be re-elected in a landslide.

I would vote for anyone who could get that done. Why we keep doing this twice a year is beyond me. It made some sense in WWII. Makes no sense today.

I believe the current argument is that this saves electricity.

We could certainly argue about the right dates to change. However, I don't want the damn sun coming up at 5 AM, or earlier, in the middle of summer. I'd rather it come up at 6 AM, and stay up until 9:15 PM.

In the dead of winter, I'm not entirely happy with 8AM to 5PM (standard time) but I'm not convinced that 9AM - 6PM would be superior.

I can understand that people closer to the equator (less summer/winter variation) may view it as less helpful and more of a nuisance. My only complaint is that we do it on a different date than Europe and Russia. It would be nice if the entire Northern Hemisphere did it on the same date (or elected not to do it at all).

Every time keeping device I own (phone, cable box, & computer) will reset themselves.

Time? Time is an illusion caused by the fact that we can't perceive everything at once.

I run on New Mexico time, anyway.

I change my clocks every 3 weeks or so. Why should I have to conform to anyone else's idea of what time it is?

Every DST event my Dad would try to confuse us by saying, complete with pantomime actions, "No, it's Spring back, Fall forward." I miss that mischievous bastard.

Re: Fall Back in Time AKA old timers, set your clocks back!

After 4 years, my fellow Hoosiers are still mega-tards when it comes to DST.

I once had someone ask me HOW to set their clocks back an hour. I told them they didn't need to turn anything back, just unplug their clocks, wait precisely one hour, and then plug them back in. When asked the inevitable follow-up question (how do I know when it's been an hour), I told them to NOT unplug one of their clocks and use that to monitor the passage. Oh, most importantly, since the changeover happened at 2am, they had to do everything then.

Just as funny today as when it first happened.

Be sure and tell them to only set it back the FIRST time it reaches 2 am. We get two of them tonight. (actually, the whole hour from 1 to 2.)

Good call! I could see Indiana get stuck in a time loop otherwise.

What is the deal with Indiana? Didn't you guys not change...then you did. But it wasn't the whole state?

Re: Fall Back in Time AKA old timers, set your clocks back!

Actually, it would be awesome if digital clocks had a "hour back" feature. It's annoying to have to hit that button 11 times.
