Waiting for Sgt Honeylamb to come home *sigh*

I haven't heard from my dearly beloved since Tuesday, and she told me last week that if I didn't hear from her for a few days or up to a week, it would be because her unit is shipping home from Kuwait, where she's been since December 1. She deployed last September 19, was home for two days in October and went overseas November 30. I have talked on the phone to her once since November 30--on Mother's Day.

Anybody with military or military-spouse chops is welcome to chime in here. What happens now? One good thing is that after her demobilization is complete and she actually returns to Kansas, I get to meet her since DADT has been repealed, although I doubt we'll be doing any tonsil swabbing in front of her CO.

SGT Honeylamb will go through a five day process with all sorts of counselling, receive a TA-180 and finally a DD-214 and her return from active duty orders, after which she will be released to her unit for return to home station for release.

huh, huh, huh. He said "release."

I know you've been anxiously awaiting her return. Hoping for good news soon. I was always the one returning so that last week was always tough. But being prior Navy it was only a 6-month deployment.

What crazyronin said. I just got out in March, so please thank her for me for her service. The big thing I think she will have to go through is the post deployment heath assessment, She will talk to shrinks, see doctors, deal with legal issues, equipment turn in, get some more money, and in a few weeks her section will probably have a party of some sort. All good stuff. I was in the Regular Army so my experiences were probably a bit different. Anyway, good stuff, welcome her home and understand she has a little adjusting to do. Don't be surprised if she misses her weapon, she has carried it everywhere she went for a year.

So, if we don't hear from you for a few days, we'll know that Sgt. Honeylamb is home?

Your excitement of her being home could possibly be very difficult for her to deal with, she's going to need some time to adjust. Be patient - I suggest a peanut butter pie, and congrats to you and thank her for her service for me.

Re: Waiting for Sgt Honeylamb to come home *sigh*

My BIL came home from Iraq last month after doing a year out there. He said the guy have to go thru therapy and classes to "ease" into re-joining their families.

My sister had me laughing with some of it, how they told him and the guys, "Now your wife may have not cleaned the house at all since you've been away..."

I got the call this afternoon. She's stateside! And I may be seeing her as early as this Sunday.

God, it's been a long year! Thanks to all of you who have humored me.

I guess it's a good thing Kittydreamer invited me to be a pirate: so I can swab the deck.

I thought this thread title was a cutesy euphemism for getting your period.

I've heard it called "entertaining the General," but never entertaining the Sergeant.

Besides, I'm past all that. Search for my 2008 "Vibiana Gets Spayed" thread.

A good friend of mine had a cat named Sgt Kittyface, for a second I assumed Sgt. Honeylamb was the same.

Which made the first post even more intense. That cat would be badass!
