What's the biggest lie you've ever told?

When I was in high school, some teacher wanted me to fill out some form that asked about my extra-curricular activities and what I did outside of school. I felt lame leaving all these boxes blank so I wrote in that I read to old people at a nursing home and took sick children out on day trips from the hospital to the park and all kinds of shit like that. A month later during an assembly they are passing out certificates from the Optimist Club or something and I am surprised to be called out of the audience to come up on stage and accept recognition for my charity work. It came with a cheque for $250 (this was 1995 dollars too). I think my picture was even taken for the paper. I was too embarrassed to admit I made all that stuff up so I took the certificate and spent the money on junk like weed and Spawn action figures.

Re: What's the biggest lie you've ever told?

The biggest lie I ever told was when I said
"I don't love you no more"
The biggest fake you'll ever know
Sometimes I feel it's everything I don't show

And I'm always thinking 'bout relationships
Wanna let the rhythm flow and feel the bassline slip.
Leaving all that fussing and a fighting to them crazy, crazy fools.
But it's time I told you something I think you should know.
All about why I ran away and why I let this go.
Guess I got tired of always feeling like my heart just broke.
Tired of missing you.

And I don't want to fight with you no more.
Really, how many times can we go to war?
Really, how many days do we have to waste,
before we can see that we've both made mistakes?

And I'm over always feeling like some hypocrite,
telling you things are ok when they don't feel like it.
But I'm not sure that once your heart gets broke the pieces fit
together quite the same.
So if you don't mind just for a while
I'm a keep this mess
that I call a heart, cracked and bleeding in this chest.
Dear God I wish sometimes we had never met.
Still, I love you anyway.

But hey, yo what difference does it make?
There's no sense in this.
No reason's I guess, gonna make it hurt less.
You know, I miss this absence of distance when it don't exist.
This mess, baby look at this mess.
Baby look at this mess.

Re: What's the biggest lie you've ever told?

I once waltzed into a wedding at a hotel and pretended to be a guest. I ended up talking to the mother of the groom, and when the best man didn't show up she asked me to give the speech. I told her that it wouldn't be appropriate since I was her son's ex-lover.

Whenever people on the street try to hand me a flyer, I tell them I don't know how to read.

"it wasn't me." That was said just after the elevator doors closed and the smell began.

Re: What's the biggest lie you've ever told?

I once lied to a instructor that my sister died to finish a project all I needed was another day to finish. Luckily...she didn't die around that time. That would've been awkward.

Re: What's the biggest lie you've ever told?

Called a sex line (twice) back in the 1980's when I was 13 years old... it was funny more than anything. A month later after I had forgot about the whole thing my parents confronted me with the phone bill. I lied and told them my best friend and neighbor made the call. I thought at the time they quasi believed me because my friend was a total trouble maker.

Flash forward to present day, being a parent myself I highly doubt my parents believed me at all.

And I think secretly my dad was more relived than anything, because I know he didn't like the fact that I listened to all those "gay electronic" groups like Depeche Mode, Bronski Beat, Soft Cell, etc.

Edit: That day they confronted me with the phone bill I discovered I had a "Unusual Suspect-like" ability to lie my way out of almost anything, and I'm not proud of that.

It was a whopper, so I'm not going to spoil it by admitting to it.

Re: What's the biggest lie you've ever told?

In 4th grade I pushed a girl off a crossbar and she broke her arm. I told the teacher (and later the insurance company) that it was an accident. Lucky there wasn't a lawsuit frenzy back then or I'd be a pauper now.

Pft. Everybody lies about that. Lying in your wedding vowes is like a business lie. It's not real lying.

"I have read and understand the agreement above."

Maybe not the biggest, but the most often told.

When our dog was sick I told my kids little Rascal was going to live on KVRDave's farm and run and play with other dogs.
