How do you connect to the internets?

I use my phone more than my 2 home computers combined.

Re: How do you connect to the internets?

You should add the option of "I steal my own cell phone internet", i.e. using your phone as a wifi hotspot when you didn't pay for using hotspot (most cell phone providers charge more for wifi hotspot usage).

also, what about the option to use wifi hotspot at starbucks and the like?

Or what if you use the work internet that isn't any of the connections mentioned above?

do I just assume all those to be a "magical way"?

Glass.

No glass in poll = failure.

Yeah. I suck. I forgot library, through Bin Laden's courier, glass, and all sorts of other things. I tried to pick all the major ways. Magic if not listed works =)

DSL and Cable.

It should've been a multiple choice poll.

Previously, dial-up and cable modem. Then there was the advent of the wi-fi signal and I 'borrowed' someone's connection for years. Then it vanished and I'm on dsl.

Cable hard to believe how fast it is these days:

I remember when it was barely 2 MBS and that was super fast compared to dial up.

I've always used cable, but it really annoys me. At any given time, it will go out. No internet. Could be minutes or hours before I get it back. I've dealt with this crap with Cox, Suddenlink, and now Colebridge. Is this the norm with cable?? I average an outage of once per week, but they only charge me 40 bucks for cable and internet so I don't complain.

<- Other

I have FTTH (Fiber To The Home). Our local Telco has been rewiring everything throughout it's service areas to replace copper lines with fiberoptic. The line comes right to my house and into a battery-powered switch that has an RJ-45 plug on the other side. My Interwebs (20M/6M), TV (hella many HDTV channels), and Voice services all come through that little bitty beam of light.

I have used Cable from Grande Communications in north Texas since they required a switch from DSL back in 2007. Since that time, I have experienced precisely ZERO service outages. Not a single time.

Comcast's cable service was fantastic, but I was also throwing sacks of money at them each month.
