Ooh cool! How well do you think it would handle having to rip boards, like shelving or plywood?

Is this a record for a shaving thread to not have someone come in pompously praising old school safety razors?

It is great for lots of things, especially if you don't have a second set of hands to help you. I used it yesterday to cut a shelf board to length, and last week to hold my lawnmower blades while I sharpened them.

But for plywood, you would need to buy the larger "plywood jaws attachment" to be able to handle 4' wide boards. Even then, you would be better off with a big table saw (if you have one).

I had seen the infomercials and read the reviews, but was hesitant to buy one based on those. Then I saw it in stock at my Lowe's, so I was able to check it out firsthand, and decided it was worth it.

Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 computer speakers. I paid $25 for them, and they sound like I paid $100.

A Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 lens. Half the price of the similar Canon model. Really sharp pictures. Very happy with it.

And I just ordered an SSD drive for the Mac Pro. Hope it at least lives up to expectations.

Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 Rice cooker. I had been thinking about getting one for a while. A month ago a page came over the intercom at work that vendors had left some samples in the breakroom, including a "steamer". I wandered down and this beauty was sitting in the pile unopened. Grabbed it immediately.

Makes the best rice I have ever had. Throw in the rice. Throw in the water. Press a button. About an hour later... Most amazing rice. Perfectly done every time. No clumping. Never too much water left. Perfect!

Knowing what I know now I would have paid for one years ago. Amazing device!

I really can only think of products I've recently purchased that met my expectations, or maybe didn't quite. I'm pretty happy with just that.

I bought the Jawhorse a few months ago, and just haven't had a project I've needed it for yet.

Holy shit, I totally made all that up!

Just kidding. I'll be interested to hear what you think of the shaver. The mirror's a no-brainer, works like a charm...good thing you didn't buy one that cost twice as much.

Note that according to the information that comes with the shaver, it takes several weeks for your face to adjust to the new shaving style. Still, I was pleased after the first shave.

butt.

I did put the shaver on my wish list. Need to go ahead and burn through the rest of my blades first.

Actually, I had the shaver saved in my cart for a while. I've been getting sick of using the manual and all the Panasonics in that line got great reviews. I ended up getting a model down, the one with 3 blades (actually it shows up as a two models down, because the one in between has that useless hydro cleaner). For $40 less I can sacrifice one blade.

Good. Now you can't blame me when it doesn't work as well as my awesome four blade.

Re: Great products you've recently purchased that exceeded your expectations.

I'm going to make you pay the $40 difference if it sucks.

But seriously, it's exactly the same, minus one blade, and it's got rave reviews on Amazon.

And don't worry, I can still blame you if that fogless mirror sucks. If it's not as good as the $30 one I'm going to have to shave in Dave's shower, and nobody wants that.
