roscoe's is cool, but i find them overpriced for what it is.

and they don't offer dark meat option in their omlettes or scrambles

Yep I had it once and its good! Not the official Roscoes but a small local restaurant does it. They are always packed and have other good items also. The C and W will cost about 10 bucks.

Chicken and Waffles with syrup and hot sauce. Not much better. Usually get it at Sylvia's in Harlem.

I would say that's counter intuitive, at best.

Roscoe's use to be way cheap back in the day (I'm talking 15-20 years ago when I was in UCLA), heck, they were just a low-rent soul-food joint, and because of their initial low prices, they got popular with the hipster crowd and then their prices crept up and up.

Sounds like a winning combination to me! I've never had it, but I've watched someone have it. I was jealous.

Re: Food poll: Chicken and Waffles

I'm a fan of making my own waffles and picking up some pre-cooked chicken fingers, ones that don't have sweet breading. Grab some syrup and you're good to go. I can only eat it every once in a while, though.

First thing I think of when I hear "Chicken and waffles". Then the song is stuck in my head for the next three days.

Re: Food poll: Chicken and Waffles

I love Roscoe's. It is a bit overpriced, but they have very meaty, high quality birds. Yeah a breast and a wing and 2 waffles is $11 bucks, but it is a LOT of food.

My problem is I love all their sides. Gritts, red beans and rice, biscuits. I gotta have 'em. THAT'S where they get you.

That is a key point. I go there and get ONE breast and ONE Waffle and it's plenty. And that is around $5

Re: Food poll: Chicken and Waffles

Yes, I've had it and yes it's delicious. Although the picture in the OP does not look very appetizing. I had a chicken breast on a waffle and it was heaven.
