She died doing what she loved. Being alive.

Getting older, and the complications of it, are the leading cause of death in this country and congress does nothing. NOTHING! They could easily pass some laws to prevent it but instead they just sit around while more people die. It's disgusting.

Another Japanese woman, who turns 117 soon, takes her place.

Chiyo Miyako has died. She was 117 years and 81 days old. RIP

Long live Kane Tanaka! She is currently 115 years and 206 days.

It happened again! Gotta think it's bad luck to be the world's oldest person.

I was hoping she would make it to 120! Only one person ever has lived to a verfied age of 120 or beyond, Jeane Calmant of France who died at 122 back in 1997.

122! To think, when she was 80 she had 42 more years to live.

When she was my age, her life was only half over.

Luckily, she lived in a country where she wasn't reliant on her 401k.

Hopefully her kids left her a good inheritance.

Re: Guess who died again? That's right, the World's Oldest Person.

Living to 119 (as Kane Tanaka did) or to 122 (as Jeanne Calmant did) is an almost abstract conception. You'd outlive all your children, many of your grandchildren, certainly the friends and acquaintances of your own cohort. It baffles the mind to think one could live to 120, have a 100 year-old child, and an 80-year-old grandchild.

Jeanne Calmant married in 1896 at age 21, so she lived to celebrate her 101st wedding anniversary, her husband having predeceased her by 55 years, and he died at age 73.

Remarkably, Kane Tanaka held the title for like three years or something.
Makes me wonder when the last time someone held the title for that long.
Seems they usually kick the bucket within months of getting the honor...

So Lucile Randon is now the third person to make it to 118, three months ago back in February.
Now less than a year away from catching Kane Tanaka...
