Best website for comparing hotel rates, finding deals?

Hello DVDTalk,

I am looking for the best website to compare rates at various Vegas hotels and find deals. A month or so ago I found a great site that had a grid for each hotel showing prices each day of the month, and they also had the best rates, but I have been googling for 2 hours now and cannot for the life of me find this site.

I don't know about grid sites (maybe vegas.com), but for deals, check out:

http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/for...splay.php?f=13
http://smartervegas.com/ (and also sign up for their e-mail alerts)

If you don't already have one, when you go, get a players club card at the various casinos, even if you don't gamble much.

Also, don't forget that many of the hotels charge daily resort fees so factor that into your comparisons.

Thoughts on when is best time to book a Vegas hotel? Planning on being there Feb 23rd-27th... wondering if I should book now as rates will go up, or if I should wait and rates will go down/new promos will come out Feb 1?, or is it a total crap shoot?

Flights are currently pretty low, so I'd book the airline now and then wait until February to book the hotel. A lot of current promos end January 31, so February is bound to introduce some new, perhaps better, deals.

It doesn't really matter....assuming you are booking directly through the hotel, most have a 72-hour cancel policy so if you book and find a better a deal at the same hotel or somewhere else, you can always cancel the original reservation at no cost to you. So I would book something now and then look again in a few weeks.

I'm also out there in late Feb. and I booked my room a month ago.

I agree with Red Dog, PLUS, no matter what deal you find online, call the hotel directly. I used to be in the travel business and found speaking with someone at eash property often got you even better deals. That said, if there are huge conventions, rooms might be at a premium, unless you can bluff your way into one of their group rate rooms!
