Zoo is a movie about an infamous incident in Washington state involving a horse.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to improve this?
Yes.

Maybe 'The Hired Hand', 'Off The Map'(really captures Taos and the whole NM 'lifestyle' thing), 'Wyatt Earp', 'Seraphim Falls', 'Silverado' or something for NM.

For TN, 'That Evening Sun', 'At Close Range', or maybe 'The Green Mile'.

For WY, 'Shane', 'Spencer's Mountain', 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'.

Shawshank Redemption, while based upon the State Prison in Thomaston, was filmed in Ohio. I'd go with either Thinner or (for a Stephen King free movie) Casper the Friendly Ghost.

orangerory
I like "Into the Wild" for Alaska
I agree. My home is Fairbanks, Alaska, so my recommendation should mean something. I am just temporarily here in Japan. I still own a house in Fairbanks.

Since you're currently in Japan, what's your stance on circumcision?

Fight Club is one of my favorite movies of all time and I'm completely lost on the Delaware connection.

It takes place in Delaware. Unless you're from Delaware, however, you wouldn't be able to tell.

(At one point, Tyler says the movement spreads to other towns and mentions other Delaware towns).

Sadly, it wasn't filmed in Delaware. Although it's not too far off.

I like Ghostbusters better than my idea, Manhattan. The Abyss doesn't take place in the Gulf of Mexico. But I like the idea of an ocean movie, so I put in The Perfect Storm. If you can come up with a good Gulf movie and a good Pacific movie, I'll put those in too.

I'm seeing votes for both Fargo and Grumpy Old Men. Is there a majority for either?

One Pacific movie that comes to mind is "Cast Away."

I'd prefer Grumpy, but imagine most would chose Fargo, which I'm fine with.

I do think The Great Outdoors is better for WI and Dakota for North Dakota.

Re: Is there anything you would fix on this map?

Zoo works great for Washington!

For a Pacific movie, there are Cast Away (mentioned above), Dead Calm, and Open Water, but all three are set near Australia and not near the US. There are a ton of WWII movies set in the Pacific, but none that I can think of that are set near California.

For the Atlantic, consider Titanic instead of The Perfect Storm.

Where was The Posieden Adventure set? And for Canada, you could have a movie in each of their Provinces. For the northern one (Northern Territory?), Death Hunt.

I've never even heard of Gummo, but this time of year it's difficult to miss "A Christmas Story."
