Egg nog!
One of my favorite things about this time of year is egg nog. It's delicious.
I've always just bought egg nog at the store, but this year, I'm of a mood to make my own. Anybody have a good recipe they'd like to share?

Yes please!
Oh... wait... no, I don't have a recipe.
My mother used to make eggnog that she cooked so, there were never any slimy bits in it, it was more like liquid custard.

I don't drink it straight but it's all I use in my coffee this time of the year.

Re: Egg nog!
I am not really a fan of drinking egg nog but Turkey Hill makes Egg Nog ice cream that is to die for.
A little shot of rum on top and its the best desert

This is the recipe I used when I was a kid:
1 cup milk
1 egg
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
dash salt
That's the simplest form. There are lots of improvements, like adding cream or alcohol. Or guar gum, if you like that supermarket flavor.

Re: Egg nog!
I make mine pretty much like Nick Danger does. I have other recipes, that add more eggs or use half and half or cream, but the simple one is preferable for me. I don't need any help being a richly marbled fatgirlperson.

In Alton I trust. Always came out good. This year I also made a batch of Eggnog that will be aging for a year.

Re: Egg nog!
Absolutely NO ONE in my family likes egg nog except for me. That means when I buy it for the apartment (just my wife and me) or my mom buys it for me when we go down to my parents' place for Christmas, it's just for me. That's great. And yet... When I watch how fast a full carton becomes empty, it's pretty sobering. I've taken to measuring out servings so I don't feel like a glutton.
I'm also on day twelve of thirty without fast food. If it goes well (and it is, so far) I may see how long I can go which means no McDonald's Egg Nog Milkshake for me this year.
