Kentucky Man: I Was Forced to Eat My Beard

AOL News (Nov. 12) -- A Kentucky man claims he was forced to eat his own beard after an attempt to sell a riding lawnmower went horribly awry.

Though he escaped serious injury, Harvey Westmoreland says he only managed to get away -- without the hair on his chin -- after he and his brother were ambushed by two men interested in purchasing a mower.

The strange ordeal occurred in Lawrenceburg in May, when former friends Troy Holt and James Hill showed up drunk to discuss buying the grass cutter from Westmoreland and his brother, according to KSDK.com.

"Troy offered to buy it from me for $250. I paid $20 for it. He thought I was trying to cheat him," Westmoreland told the press. "One thing led to another, and before I knew it, there were knives and guns and everything just went haywire."

That's when Holt and Hill allegedly shaved Westmoreland's beard and put a knife to his brother's neck.

"They cut my beard and forced me to eat it," Westmoreland said.

The two men released the brothers but said they would kill them if they contacted police, according to Westmoreland.

The brothers alerted authorities, who arrested Holt and Hill. They pleaded guilty and are expected to be fined and sentenced to supervision diversion on Tuesday, according to Lex18.com.

I'm just thankful that Katie Holmes wasn't involved in any of this. The thread title gave me quite the scare.

What the heck is "supervision diversion"?

I hope it's something that keeps those guys away from knives and guns and whatever drugs they were doing.

Man, I thought this was going to be a story involving something that the guy sold that he said works well or he will "Eat my own beard" Then he actually held up his end of the bargain.

It's no fun if the fear of death was there.

While I didn't specifically think of Katie Holmes, that was the kind of beard I thought of as well.

I have a hard time believing that this guy would have to be forced to eat anything.

Maybe he just liked the taste. I hear beard is high in calories and carbohydrates. He was probably skinny when they made him a beard lover.

Re: Kentucky man eats beard

The two that made the guy eat his beard are crazy. They are dangerous. They need to spend some time behind bars.

Not behind bars. I think a little ECT will do the job.

I've got the jumper cables right here...

Pair Sentenced For Forcing Man To Eat Own Beard

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. - Two central Kentucky men were sentenced to probation Tuesday in connection with a bizarre case in which a third man said he was forced to eat his beard after an argument.

A judge sentenced 47-year-old Troy Holt and 51-year-old James Hill in Anderson Circuit Court.

Harvey Westmoreland, of Lawrenceburg, had said Holt cut off his beard and forced him to eat it while Hill allegedly held a sickle blade to Westmoreland and his brother during the May incident.

The dispute was over a tractor Westmoreland was trying to sell to one of the men, and Westmoreland said the pair felt like they were being ripped off.

"Troy offered to buy it from me for $250 dollars. I paid twenty bucks for it. He thought I was trying to cheat him," Westmoreland told WLEX-TV. "One thing led to another, and before I knew it, there were knives and guns and everything just went haywire."

"(Then) they cut my beard and forced me to eat it," he said.

Holt could not say why he made Westmoreland eat his beard other than that things "got out of control" after some heavy drinking.

"I ain't got no excuses about what I done," Holt said.

Hill had no comment after sentencing.

As a condition of their sentences, neither Holt nor Hill is to have contact with Westmoreland.

Re: Kentucky man eats beard

While I don't condone the fact that they made him eat his own beard, I think we need to consider that it may be better than the alternative of living in a nation where riding lawnmowers are sold unfairly to drunkards.

Every time I look at this thread title, I think it says "bread" and I wonder why that's such a big goddamn deal. Every... time.
