Re: Who else misses feeling young?

Not me. I'm 43 and am still waiting to grow up. I'm sure I'll die of old age before that happens.

Re: Who else misses feeling young?

Almost all of my friends refuse to admit that they do, but when they e-mail me, call me, or just talk to me, so often it's about something from the past and usually as far back as high school. Sometimes middle school and even elementary school.

I touched base with a lot of friends this Halloween and got a lot of stories where it was, "Remember when you were Darth Vadar and I was a farmer and how we did this, this and that and how much fun it was?" I heard more stories like that than I did about their kids.

I know they feel like I do, but most people won't say it. It's not like I long to repeat my life or do something specific again, but, man, being 13 was awesome and when I was 16-17 it was probably the best consecutive 365 day period in my life. Maybe not a single bad day, nothing to worry about, and just living in the moment.

I love my family, but it's harder being older in many, many ways.

I miss having less responsibilities, but I don't miss being young.

Re: Who else misses feeling young?

40 is the new 17.

So I'm actually only 21.

This is how I feel these days. I'm not old by any means or even mature really haha, but the "real world" keeps smacking me in the face (lol) and it definitely makes me long for the old days when life was far simpler.

A hot girlfriend does wonders for this problem.

I miss both, in different ways. Miss less responsibilities, but I also miss the physical abilities, like staying up all night. In college, I could stay up all night, go to class all day, and still have fun that following night. One night of sleep and I was golden. Now, I try to stay up all night and I just fall asleep sitting up at some point. It's just not going to happen. I miss stuff like that.

This is why I'm building a time machine to leap back into my younger self.

Re: Who else misses feeling young?

I don't think I'd want to be young again the way things are. Oh, sure, when I was young I had obstacles to overcome, like the proliferation of roller disco movies and the incoming Reagan administration, but it was a lot more innocent time than now, when a fully dressed Brooke Shields could STILL shock people by talking about her Calvins.

Yes. Just give me 2 months summer vacation every year and a week off for Christmas and I'm good.

Also, not hurting for 2 days after a minor fall would be a bonus. I'm not to hip-breaker age yet, so really that's a minor request.

I fell flat on my face last night bringing the trash can in from the curb. I'm sore as hell this morning.

I'm 50, but I suck at math. But I guess 50 would be the new 27 then.

Cool!

Re: Who else misses feeling young?

When you're young you don't "feel" young, as you don't know how else to feel. It's only when you get older that you might recall what that might feel like in comparison - and it's a gradual process. At 38, I don't feel much different than I did at 28, but I sure feel different from what I recall I felt like at 18.

Re: Who else misses feeling young?

Once in awhile i miss my childhood, but then I remember that I wasn't old enough to drive or use a credit card, so it was kind of a pisser...

Re: Who else misses feeling young?

It would have been nice to have enjoyed being young.

I'm deeply suspicious of people who have fond memories of High School.

I'm not. I just smile politely while they finish pumping my gas.

I had an absolute blast in high school, some of the wildest, most fun times of my life.

Re: Who else misses feeling young?

I could do without the mystery aches and pains (and the weird shape an older body takes) but otherwise I'm fine with who I am. I think there's a part of me that will never grow up though... -kd5-

Quite a few of mine were at school, quite a few when I was supposed to be there too.
