Tell me about Vincennes, IN!

Ok for reals this time.

Originally inspired by: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/other-talk/...-tulsa-ok.html

I made this one: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/other-talk/...hicago-il.html

But now I know for sure that I am moving here.

Anyone on:

The best place to buy DVDs, awesome out of the way places, movie theaters, outdoor entertainment, food, crime, ect.

Also where an International Business major could get a job around here?

Thanks

Re: Tell me about Vincennes, IN!

It's a historical little town, from what I recall.

You shouldn't be too far away from some Amish areas, which means there's some good eating.

It's home to the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center..

Bound to be lots of shenanigans and some good old boot stomping hootenannies going on there!

As for the rest of what you wanted, look here..

Re: Tell me about Vincennes, IN!

What a coincidence. Just learned from a Hoosier Facebook friend that their daughter is attending the State Soils Judging Competition in Vincennes this weekend. So there's that. Sadly, I'm not joking.

Re: Tell me about Vincennes, IN!

ouch, well the biggest city you are close to is Evansville (45 minutes south). You could probably also make decent time to Indianapolis (2 hours or so).

Re: Tell me about Vincennes, IN!

I was born, raised, and still reside in Terre Haute, IN- about an hour away.

Hell would probably be a better option with more job opportunities.

Seriously, this area sucks, and if it weren't for family I would have been long gone.

Why the hell would you move to the armpit of America without a job? It's gotta be a woman, right? You're doing this because a woman is making you, right?

Re: Tell me about Vincennes, IN!

I leave in 2 days. I was thinking about getting some Big Lots furniture (since i have a 20% off coupon). How much is reasonable to pay to get someone to deliver say a mattress, couch, table, some shelves and a dresser?

My wife is too tiny to help move these items but I could maybe accomplish this in my Aztek 1 at a time if I got her something with wheels to have on her end.

Any ideas/thoughts?

Having a bit of a hard time finding a job around here. At least one that isn't factory work.

Really? It's too bad someone didn't try to warn you about that before.

Re: Tell me about Vincennes, IN!

I grew up right across the river in Lawrenceville, where there's actually LESS to do and less opportunity than in Vincennes. About the only thing Vincennes was good for, growing up, was a wider variety of restaurants (mostly fast food), a movie theater, and the thing to do when I was younger was cruising 6th Street. Nowadays even that isn't what it used to be, from what I hear.

Cutter's Way is a good bar to hang out at, right there on the campus of VU on 2nd Street, and the George Rogers Clark memorial is a nice place to walk around. They have a nice July 4th fireworks display there.

I'm curious where in the world you got a job in Vincennes that was worth moving there for. Most everyone from there or around the area knows to leave at some point.
