Logo added or removed?

I watched a video on the Scientific American website today, and there was a forced Siemens ad I had to sit through first. On the right, there was a still shot link for the ad, with the video playing on the left. The only thing is that they didn't quite match. Take a look:

At first, I was shaking my head, thinking companies have gotten to the point of advertising within other advertisements. Now I'm guessing they just removed the logo for the still shot, but it struck me as odd that they would go through all of the work to remove it for a link photo, rather than just choose another image.

This has got me thinking... Will companies ever get to the point of paying for their advertising campaign with product placement in their own ads?
