Going to Seattle next week, what to do?

I'm going to Seattle next week for PAX and I'm also staying some extra days to have some vacation fun.
So Pacific NW otters, what should I do?

I'm renting a car because I plan to drive down to Portland to visit some family. So I will be mobile.

I do not have my passport; I've lost it some how so no Canada for me.

Pike's place/wharf thing is already on the list as well as visiting Mt. St. Helens.

First thing you need to do when you arrive in Seattle is purchase bear mace so you'll be prepared for the hippies.

I suggest you spray first, ask questions later upon approach.

Or better yet, don't ask questions of Seattle hippies.

Bring your freakin' umbrella, it looks like the rain is back.
You've already got Pike's place down so can hit the Seattle center while you're downtown and see/go to the top of the Space Needle.

Bumbershoot is going on that weekend as well. Some good music in town including Bob Dylan, Weezer, and Baroness.

I think there are at least 4 other "going to Seattle" threads. More than any other city?

I definitely notice a lot of these. When I was coming here for the first time, I definitely added to the "Going to Seattle" thread count.

One surprisingly fun thing is to take a ferry ride to Bainbridge. You don't even need to really get off on the island, it's just cool to have the sea air, see some seagulls and what not.

I usually recommend Kittyhugs Bakery in Shoreline, but they sadly closed down

i was there back in 1998. i swear i rode by some tiny business downtown that said Amazon.com

i can't remember the name, but there was some restaurant with 50 beers on the menu and they would tell you which ones to pair with which meal

I went in 2001 (or 2000?) and it was a little bigger.

And I went to Bumbershoot too and it was great, I even met Spoon Man, the real one.

Everyone's always talking about that place but I've yet to give it a try. The maple bar with bacon sounds intriguing.

It's actually quite good. The banana fritter with peanut butter and chocolate chips is way better though.

Go to the REI Store.
Go eat some Mongolian Barbecue.
Go to Kinokuniya in Chinatown (The International District).
