Things you have found in your yard.

Got the idea from this thread

http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/l...222012622.html

Post what have you found in your yard, and pictures if any.

Once when I was a kid I found an old septic tank, I of course thought it was a treasure chest and cracked it open with a hammer. Fortunately it had been out of use (or never in use) for some time. But I have to say I was really bummed when I found out it was empty.

I think you woulda been more bummed if it hadn't been empty.

Re: Things you have found in your yard.

I found a possum snacking in our compost pile last night. I didn't stick around long enough to get any pics.

ETA: Oh, while digging? Mostly bottle caps and those little plastic tabs they put in flower pots at the store. Once while digging in my grandmother's yard in Danville, KY I found some old apothecary style bottles.

Re: Things you have found in your yard.

I've found a few dozen golf balls over the years, as well as about ten or so lacrosse balls.

Re: Things you have found in your yard.

I found a dead deer after the snow started melting this year. But then the neighbors dogs found the deer too and took care of it.

Re: Things you have found in your yard.

I woke up one morning with a car's hood lodged about 15 feet up in an Elm tree in my front yard.....

Re: Things you have found in your yard.

A flock of sheep (from the farm next door), an ostrich (from a farm about 1/2 mile away), deer, 'possums, raccoons, a drunk sitting in his car who thought he was in another town in a parking lot, woodchucks, a bouquet of balloons from Michigan State (about 100 miles east of here). I don't even want to guess what else has been on my yard. Oh yeah, a llama and 2 goats from the farm next door, too.

A few golf balls, a basketball, a knife, and a cell phone which I returned to the owner.

Re: Things you have found in your yard.

Someone once left a 10-gallon fish tank in my window well. This was on the side of the house, a good 30' back from the sidewalk.

Re: Things you have found in your yard.

Lots of plastic grocery bags. They blow in and get stuck on the fence.

An exploded pigeon.

Golf balls.

Frisbee.

Mama skunk and two youngsters.

Re: Things you have found in your yard.

About 5 years ago I was cutting my mom's grass when I bent over to look at something and I found my Boba Fett action figure rifle I lost back in the early 1980's while playing in that area.

From the large-size figure or 3 3/4" figure? One in a million find if you found the small one-- those fuckers are small.
