Re: Happy Friday the 13th

from wiki

The fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia, frigga meaning "Friday" and triskaidekaphobia (or paraskevidekatriaphobia[1][2]) being a word derived from the concatenation of the Greek words Paraskeví (Παρασκευή, meaning "Friday"), and dekatreís (δεκατρείς, meaning "thirteen") attached to phobía (φοβία, from phóbos, φόβος, meaning "fear"). The word was derived in 1911 and first appeared in a mainstream source in 1953.[3]
According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, an estimated 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day. Some people are so paralyzed by fear that they avoid their normal routines in doing business, taking flights or even getting out of bed. "It's been estimated that [US]$800 or $900 million is lost in business on this day".[5] Despite this, representatives for both Delta and Continental Airlines say that their airlines don't suffer from any noticeable drop in travel on those Fridays

Re: Happy Friday the 13th

I always find it funny when people go out of their way to avoid the number 13, especially in reference to buildings.

In many buildings the floors go 10, 11, 12, and 14. They skip floor 13. However, those people on the 14th floor really know what floor they are on. If they jump out of a window, they'll die a floor earlier. - paraphrased from Mitch Hedberg.

Re: Happy Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th is usually a good day for me.

It was certainly a good TV series.

Didn't realize it until I heard it on the radio on the way into work. Oh well, I'll get back to you later today if anything happens.

I live not too far from where the original Friday the 13th was filmed. I bet the camp gets some unwelcome visitors every time it rolls around.

I've already had a bad luck experience. I clicked into a Twikoff thread and it doesn't deliver.

Not really, many buildings use the 13th floor as an equipment floor. The building I am in does that. So there is no 13 on the elevator, just on the freight or the fire stairs.

It's also National Left Handers day... so that's something. For me, anyway.
