Revenge of the Nerds, a.k.a. Don't Rob Gamers

http://kotaku.com/5601997/game-cafe-...es-to-the-head

A gaming cafe in Kaneohe, Hawaii was robbed last week, three youths storming in and demanding money from the customers inside. They got the money, but I don't think they were ready for one guy to fight back.

As you can see in this clip from KHON2 news, things were going pretty well for the bandits early on. They come in, threaten the front desk employee, rough him up then start taking money from the kids inside using the computers. Then they try and take one guy's DS. Nunh unh.

He goes bananas, flying straight at his would-be thief with a flurry of punches. He even manages to land one. He receives several more (with interest) in return, but his actions help inspire the rest of the cafe's inhabitants, who eventually fight back, stealing the mask of one robber and causing the rest to flee.

Three of the thieves were apprehended by police around a block away.

That's great! It's too bad they won't see any jail time, though, so they can get ribbed about being the guys that the nerds beat up.

All this story does, though, is reinforce "Make sure you carry guns so this doesn't happen to you." to wannabe thugs.

Video here:

<object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="437" height="347" id="viddler"><param name="movie" value="http://www.viddler.com/simple_on_site/fc0e5403" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="flashvars" value="fake=1"/><embed src="http://www.viddler.com/simple_on_site/fc0e5403" width="437" height="347" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="always" allowFullScreen="true" flashvars="fake=1" name="viddler" ></embed></object>

2 things that struck me from that video
- the 2 nerds who gave immediately their money are pussies. After the other gamers tackled down the 3 robbers, those 2 nerds continued watching instead of joining the fray.
- Why the hell do the reporters there dress like tourist? Yes, it is in Hawaii, but do they have to use flower shirts and ties?

I know thieves are never that bright, but why would you be stealing pocket change from people and punching valuable electronics items?

Unless there was a cop sitting right around the corner, this part didn't quite add up before watching the video.

The perps were customers that had all their personal info on file?

Dumbasses.

Business attire in Hawaii requires a Hawaiian shirt tucked in and some dress trousers. That's just how it is. You know when they're off work when the shirt is untucked.

I know, right? Not only that, but the part with the desk reporter looks like it was filmed in the '70s.

That was pretty cool.

I love this line:

"We're Gamers, I mean we're immersed in that culture. We all want to be Superheros. There's something missing from our Brains."

Awesome!

Re: Revenge of the Nerds, a.k.a. Don't Rob Gamers

I'm trying to imagine a gamer in fight.

First, he grabs a POWER-UP.

Then starts tapping the TRIANGLE button while holding down the CIRCLE button. He changes the CAMERA ANGLE as he starts to pummel his opponent to get the best view.

Gamer takes a hit with a weapon, and limps behind a chair where a HEALTH PACKET is hidden and uses the health pack to restore his strength.

Pressing the X button and the SQUARE button, he delivers a flying kick which stuns opponent. Using this distraction, he begins pummeling his opponent by alternating left and right hits rapidly, by depressing the CIRCLE button and rapidly alternating the LEFT an RIGHT triggers until the boss goes does.

And he moves on to the next level after saving.

It's a good thing the nerds showed some restraint and did not use their light sabers or phasers. On stun, of course.
