Re: Anyone here have a Swissgear backpack? Do you have a problem zipping it up?

I had one. It was my first laptop backpack I think. I quickly dumped it. To big and to heavy. Filled up would not fit under a seat on a plane. But I don't remember having a problem with the zippers.

I recently also dumped my eBags rolling backpack I had been using for 2 years. "all of a sudden" the airlines didn't like it and would hassle me saying to big.

I now have this one and LOVE it....good size, but still holds everything (including 15" work laptop, and my netbook)

Just like Sdallnct. I got a Swiss for personal use and it was just big and annoying. I have the one pictured for work, and it's perfect. The Swiss one is great if you have some odd need to have your backpack look like it's full when it's empty.

As for the OP, I never had any issues with the zippers on it.

Off topic, links to nice backpacks? I'm in the market for a new one.

I've had the same Swissgear backback for going on 7 years now and all the zippers still work fine.

It probably doesn't fit underneath an airline seat but being 6'4"+ with size 14 shoes, I never put anything under the seat except my feet.

If you have the cash and want something extremely well designed, absolutely bomb-proof, waterproof and comfortable:

Yeah, $200 for a backpack but it will easily last forever.

The company makes bags for professional bike messengers. They make the best bags I've seen.

They describe the capacity by the number of beer cans it can hold.

Take a look at Staples this week. They have virtually all backpacks "free" after rebate in the form of a Staples gift card. I know they carry some decent ones like the Swiss Gear etc. The deal is available on-line or in store.

I have a Kelty that retailed for about $100 via a Nissan test drive about 8 years ago that is still going strong.

Try putting a little white lithium lubricant on the zippers. You can find it cheap at automotive stores. It works great on sticky zippers.

I don't use backpacks anymore (portfolio bag or messenger bag), but I still have one from LL Bean. I've had it for probably a dozen years now. No frills, but it is still kickin'!

they bind where the darker gray nylon strips are, due to poor sewing. If i pull them a bit upward, then i can still get it to zip up. the other spot is where the front zipper crosses the zipper right above the drink holder.

I think i have that same kelty daypack, i believe the model is blanca 2000. I use that when I go hiking.

Those nissan test drives back in the days was awesome because they give out nice free gift.

"No" to the first question, "Yes" to the second.

I've had that backpack for about a year now and have no problem with the zippers.

thanks for everyone's help, ended up getting this instead.

to "fix" it, i'd probably have to cut into the fabric, which i don't want to do.
