What's your irrational fear?

So I've never been nuts about bridges and tunnels. Luckily there aren't any tunnels around here and I rarely go to MN so I don't have to cross the Mississippi which is pretty much the only large bridge nearby. Ever since I moved into my new building I've been kind of wary of the elevators. Kind of a combo of not liking small places and a fear of heights, plus they make noises that make me nervous. Today I was going to the ground floor to get a soda from the machine and I see one of the elevators stopped right below the landing, the doors open, and a tech working on it. I got a good look at the mechanism the operates the thing and now I'm super paranoid. First of all, the chain-looking part didn't seem big enough, plus if he's fixing it, would he leave the car on the 1st floor and not the 7th? I ride the damn things at least twice a day, usually more and every time I do, I'm tempted to lay flat on the floor just in case

There's a little of my crazy, show us some of yours.

If I leave a light switch in a position that isn't fully up or down, it will start a fire and burn the house down.

I'm not testing this theory, but I haven't burned the house down yet by making sure it's really up or down.

I wouldnt worry about an elevator falling, all you have to do is jump in the air before impact and you'll be okay.

I can't stand when someone points something sharp at my eye, like a stick, or a pencil, even if they are like 20 feet away. I have to turn away... although, I have no issues watching 3-D movies.

Nope, in a falling elevator you're supposed to lay flat.

I've got this thing about the telephone ringing. When I was a kid, I got these bizarre crank calls that freaked me out. Since then, when I hear the phone ring, my heartrate goes up some. Thankfully, nobody ever calls me these days.

I get the same feeling, but it's because of my old job.

I don't think that qualifies as irrational.

I have had those thoughts after watching Paranormal Activity.

I do have these moments where I'm lying in bed and for whatever reason, my mind starts going through these scenarios that someone has broken into the house.

Start thinking of escape routes, possible items to use as weapons, how would I attack, etc. usually end up going through this a few times a month. Not sure why.

Flying. Although I don't think it's that irrational the way they have been dropping out of the sky the last few years.

Roller coasters.

No way the designers of those things had 6'7 men in mind when they were drawing up the blue prints. I pretty much spend 99.9% of the ride ducking, POSITIVE I'll get decapitated.

Brain injury, brain damage, anything like that. I can't even watch brain surgery on the Discovery channel.

Mine is pretty common - tight spaces. More specifically, tight spaces like crawl spaces where you have to back up to get out and there's a lot of mass above you. It's about the only thing that really freaks me out.

Watching shows like Man vs. Wild where he's crawling headfirst in a tight cave alone are enough to get me breathing harder.
