Just pop open one of those huge lantern batteries, I hear they're full of AAs!

Re: Post your off-brand batteries!
I got a deal from JCPenny's before Christmas for roughly 120ish of these for $15.
Funny I saw this thread because I changed the batteries in my son's "leaf blower" today and mentioned to my wife that these batteries corrode faster than any other battery I've ever used. They couldn't have been in there over a month. We just got the thing and I put the kingwolf batteries in when I got home.

got these at harbor freight like 4 bucks for 24 of them. Figured they'd be good for things like emergency lanterns and remote controls.

sorry for the giant size of the image.

Obviously the branding folks at RadioShack worked hard to come up with a name to stand out from their competition: "Look, guys, just cut "Ener--" off one and "--cell" off the other, and call it a day."
They do work well, though, and they're usually about 25-30% cheaper than the others.

I would ask if anyone is concerned about using off-brand batteries out of a fear of leakage or corrosion, but the only batteries that ever leak on me are Duracells.

As we drove away from the house and close to making the first turn, I turned on the Lynx and the Duracells decided to leak at that moment.
No video games for me on that trip.
Sent in the device after I returned and Duracell replaced the Lynx for me.

I too prefer to use off brand batteries in things such as Emergency Lanterns. I mean, who really wants a lantern to turn on when you need it, anyway?
Of course, we should only use the best batteries in things that really mean something, like toys and vibrators.
