If the entire population of China was to jump has high as they could at the same time, and land at the same time, the energy released would equal that of a half-megaton of TNT.

That would probably capsize a few islands.

The Earth's rotation wobbles like a toy top that's running down. Each wobble takes about 26,000 years. We currently have a North Star because the Earth's axis happens to be pointing in that direction. In Roman times, there was no North Star. A few hundred years from now, there will again be no North Star.

Fool. The Earth wobbles because women run around in tank tops and shorts.

Do they all have to land at the same spot? Or will the jump distributed across the entire country be enough to trigger that amount of energy release?

Did you know that more people per year die from getting hit in the head with a wine bottle cork than they do from poisonous spider bites?

And deer kill more people than black bears.

(HINT: Do not try to pet the deer. They can kick. Hard.)

I actually believe that one. Most (but not all) people have the sense to stay away from bears, but plenty think every deer they meet is Bambi.

I have the best factoid here. But it's NSFW.

Spoiler:
In Korean, the word for "hot pepper" is the same as "penis". There's also a saying that goes: "The tiniest pepper is the spiciest".

The actual occurrence of crimes is inverse to the appearance of crimes in the media.

Re: The Did You Know Thread.

Early politicians required feedback from the public to determine what the people considered important. Since there were no telephones, TV's or radios, the politicians sent their assistants to local taverns, pubs, and bars. They were told to "go sip some ale" and listen to people's conversations and political concerns. Many assistants were dispatched at different times. "You go sip here" and "You go sip there." The two words "go sip" were eventually combined when referring to the local opinion and, thus we have the term "gossip."

Does that include people who die in car accidents from hitting a deer, or just deer attacks?

Deer attacks? Really? Yes, it is deaths from vehicle accidents (mainly, a few gorings occur). I think deer account for more deaths than all other animals combined in the US.

Considering Windex already contains ammonia, i would agree the mixture is safe. And your concoction seems redundant.

Wyoming, the 10th largest state, is also the least populous with a total of 544,270 residents as of 2009.

It was actually found in a fish market. When anthropologists questioned the local fisherman, they said they'd been catching them for years, but they tasted terrible so they always threw them back.
