Same here. I think their commercials are some of the most enjoyable I've seen, so they get bonus points for that.

so no ordering inside at all? do they have a standard drive-up windows or is it all the drive-in slots (which i saw constructed), where someone has to actually come out and give you the food?

A girl I went to high school with worked at our local Sonic and she wore skates back then, but that was almost 30 years ago, so the liability factor makes that less common now.

People are still on rollerskates at the Sonic near my house. They have a small covered outdoor patio-type seating area, but other than that it is all just drive-in stalls and a drive-through.

They have ratcheted some of their prices up so it can get expensive for fast food at times. There's a chicken club toaster sandwich that's like 5-6 bucks I think. I did discover they had a dollar menu a while back so its not that bad. Breakfast burritos are great.
I think the drinks are artificial but they toss some fruit in to make them a bit better.

i saw on their menu online they have Diet Dr. Pepper...is that true at all locations as i have never seen regular, let alone Diet, except for the Mr. Pibb i used to get at BK back when i was a kid. i would be interested in that with the space-aged ice cubes in a big non-environmental stryofoam cup!

I've had the food before and while I was addicted originally (years ago when I got it in Texas once a year), now that I can actually have it a few times a year, I don't really have it all that often.
The drinks, however, the drinks are sublime. (My favorite is a Route 44 cran-apple slush.)

sonic is one of the 'fast food' places i actually look forward goin to. I normally just stick to the dollar menu (the fritos chili chese wrap is AMAZING), but i sometimes will order the chili cheese dog w/ tots or get the popcorn chicken... the drinks at happy hour is what makes the trip all worth while though

Sonic is pretty friggin great when it comes to the drinks. The food is average at best though. When I used to live in upstate NY I would constantly see the commercials for Sonic and realized that there was none within 100 miles from me. Now that I'm in the Midwest there 2 within 5-10 miles. I love the happy hour 1/2 priced drinks from 2-4. I'll get a couple Route 44s for 2 bucks. Scrumptious. My constant is a Strawberry Limeade with extra Lime. I think I'm gonna go tomorrow now.
