Horror Poster Feedback

I thought this could possibly fit with MovieTalk but I wasn't too sure so I kept it over here.
I am an ever-aspiring artist trying to get out there just a little more. I just completed a picture that I plan on making into prints and selling.
I just have never really put myself out there, I only really sell prints out of a local coffee shop right now. I would just love to hear feedback from you folks, since I'm sure you might appreciate the subject matter of my newest.

Here's my Tumblr with some more of my work: http://www.austinjames.tumblr.com

I was just thinking of doing some more movie themed posters and I was interested in knowing if there was any interest in them. I'm just really asking for feedback. If these were available to buy for prints, would you be interested.

Thank you for any of your attention/words/time.

Re: Horror Poster Feedback

I dig it. Going through your Tumblr, I actually like a lot of your stuff. I'd give thought to buying a print if the subject matter was appealing and the price was right.

Re: Horror Poster Feedback

That is awesome. But the Bride of Frankenstein is too big, and Nosferatu looks too much like Gollum. Otherwise, great stuff. And nice somewhat obscure choices. I really like the Return of the Living Dead tarman, and Re-Animator's Dr. Hill. And is that The Fly?

Where? Right in front of the Taco Bell chihuahua?

(Pretty good, but not my cup of tea.)

I love the horror poster- the rest of your work is pretty fantastic too!

Can you explain what's going on in this one?

Re: Horror Poster Feedback

That poster is cool. I agree with a previous poster that Bride is a little big. I also like the Sumarian Rat Monkey peaking out.

Also do you people really think thats Spongebob?

Re: Horror Poster Feedback

I really like that. Love horror movies, but probably not something I would put on my wall. Just because it would freak my kids out. Excellent choices. I might add Pennywise to the thing, but clowns freak me out.

Hell, I would buy one.

You are really good. Not too fond of your horror poster above but I really like what you have on that site.

Re: Horror Poster Feedback

Great work on that site. I love most everything (the Furry stuff was a bit creepy). I would certainly buy and hang the poster (being cheap it would have to be for a low price of course). I do like it a lot but I have to agree with the others that the bride is too big and a bit out of place considering all but two are from more recent horror movies (and one could argue that Nosferatu could be from one of several more recent movies that borrowed that look).

I am proud that I can name very movie but one; the guy in the plaid shirt next to the Hellraiser cube.

Re: Horror Poster Feedback

As a horror fan, I really like it along with all of your other work. With that said, you would probably get better feedback if you posted this in the movie forum instead of people here mistaking The Book of The Dead for fucking Spongebob.

Anyway, if you put this up for sale I'd pick one up. Keep up the great work! It's always refreshing to see hand drawn posters considering they are almost non-existent these days.

Re: Horror Poster Feedback

I can't explain why but I love that Green Valley High drawing.

From the horror poster I got these:

Psycho
The Birds
Nosferatu
Re-Animator
The Thing
Bride of Frankenstein
Friday the 13th
Halloween
The Shining
The Exorcist
The Fly
Phantasm
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Alien
Return of the Living Dead
Hellraiser
Dawn of the Dead
A Nightmare on Elm St.
Child's Play
The Evil Dead

Which ones am I missing? I think there are three more that I'm not sure about.

Re: Horror Poster Feedback

The rat on the bottom right is from Braindead aka Dead Alive and I assume the werewolf is from An American Werewolf in London.

Add me to the list of those who'd buy your work. You have a really great eye, I didn't dig all the works on your Tumblr but it's largely great.

Re: Horror Poster Feedback

I really enjoy this!

The only thing from a design perspective that doesn't work for me is that the blades from the Phantasm Sphere look awkward in how they're placed in front of the Bride of Frankenstein. The Sphere would probably look better on one of the edges....

Re: Horror Poster Feedback

I like it. Have you considered designing T-shirts? shirt.woot has a weekly "derby" for designers without experience. They get to pick the theme, but you could probably figure out a way to work in some monsters (as long as it doesn't violate any copyrights). I think it would be a good medium for some of your stuff. There's a FAQ on shirt.woot:
