Re: Unauthorized use on my credit card...
At my home computer I am careful about where I go, but my wife and kids aren't. Put it this way - a couple months ago she was mad at me because some girl had sent me information about Viagra and where to buy it. Yes, it was spam, one of those "great prices on Viagra!" types of emails. Something I would delete without a second thought, but my wife thought it was an email from a lover of mine. I am pretty sure she visited the "drugstore" link that was in that email.
I hate debit cards, will never use one. I normally withdraw about $200 or $300 every couple of weeks and just use that for expenses including gas, food, etc etc.

Yep. Cashback on $1.50 isn't much, but over 20 years, I might be able to get a "free" coffee. For what it's worth, pretty much the only time I don't pay with credit is if I'm at a bar for one drink, and I don't want to deal with the credit process.

The problem with using the debit card for a $1.50 transaction is it's just one more line on your monthly bill you have to look at. What if the clerk somehow changes it to $10.50, would you catch it? I don't know if this can be done with a debit card but at a restaurant, sure, some waiters will add to the tip line.

Do you want to stay married to her because you love her? It's a 'yes' or 'no' question. Do you?

I have friends who bank with Chase/WaMu who've had to get their cards replaced numerous times as the bank has personally called them up to tell them that someone used a skimmer in their branch and that they would be safe to have the card replaced.

Re: Unauthorized use on my credit card...
I'm dealing with a baffling case now...working on trying to link a southern Minnesota victim to his CC being used in Miami, FL about 2 months ago. Slowly...but I'll get it I'm sure.
About 2 years ago I had a CC case with a 85 year old victim in my area...the only thing she ever did was buy medication with it over the phone. The CC was used in West Virginia and Virgina of all places..furniture purchases, used to pay a energy bill (electric, etc) and a car payment. After about 2 weeks of subpoena's and digging... I found out that the medication company, which was in Kansas City, KS, had a "call center" in WV and VA. The phone operator had stolen her CC info and used it for $6,500 total.
I passed the info onto her local PD in VA and they did a search warrant on her place and got her convicted in their area. Resitution to the CC company.
Sometimes is all about luck...for the most part...stuff can be tracked. IP addresses, bills, etc.

Re: Unauthorized use on my credit card...
I used to work fraud at one of the 50,402 credit card banks here in Delaware. I once got a call from a supermarket manager who had a customer whose card was being declined and was calling in. Well, the card had been stolen. I told the manager to call the police and then talked to the customer. I fed him a bunch of BS to keep him on the line long enough for the police to come.

Wow, late to the party, but I'd agree that she is cheating on you, or ready to. I don't envy that situation, but you need to resolve it and give us all the juicy details.

I was just issued a new Band of America card with a note that there had been a "compromise" in their system somewhere. Don't now if that's something that pertains to you.

She's been very affectionaite lately. It seems that her moods are tied to the phases of the moon.
As for the card, I just mailed back some written statement saying that the charges were not mine. It was two $123 or so charges from match.com, from some other country, on two days in a row.
