Poll: About the word "visage"...

Do you think the average American knows what a visage is?

Thanks for the input!

Isn't that the stuff that leaked out of Elle's eyeball when Beatrix stepped on it in Bud's trailer?

If you randomly chose 100 (or 1000 or 10,000, etc.) people, how many would have the correct definition or something close to it...

Re: Poll: About the word "visage"...

Also, would your answer change much if we were to ask a professional/college educated American?

Visage are a British pop band. Formed in 1978, the band became closely linked to the burgeoning New Romantic fashion movement of the early 1980s.

^ Hell yeah! Featuring Midge Ure and Billy Currie of Ultravox (in fact, that's how Ure got recruited into Ultravox).

Re: Poll: About the word "visage"...

Ok honesty time, who that has posted here looked up the definition.

I was pretty sure I knew what it was but looked it up to be sure.

Not to mention John McGeoch (possibly post-punk's finest guitarist), Dave Formula and Barry Adamson. It was a new wave supergroup

Re: Poll: About the word "visage"...

And the word means "face" in French. I learned that from watching DVDs with French subtitles and/or dubbed in Francais, even though most of it is Canadian French and not real French.

Re: Poll: About the word "visage"...

I have a very low opinion of the "average American's" understanding of anything.

Heck, most of them don't really know what "average" means.
