YAJT: How to deal with a friend getting sent up
One of my friends is going to jail for 3 years, a Federal Prison in California. What should he expect? How often can I visit him, and can I bring him gifts like books, food, etc? has anyone here had to deal with a close friend or family member going to jail?

tell him on day one, he needs to find the biggest baddest guy he can, and then beat the shit out of him.. so noone will mess with him

When i was like 12 or 13 I used to go to a prison work camp with my sister to vist a male friend of my sister who was an inmate. It was very interesting. it was more like a cool hand luke type of place way out in the sticks and they had picnic tables were you visited. Never been to a big house except in the movies.
Oh, she ended up marrying the guy after he got out and she got pregnant. It did not turn out to well.

You need to go to the prison and ask them about gifts and food. Specifically ask if it would be permitted for you to bring in a cake with a large metal file in it.
