When is the last time you used a phone book?

Verizon sent me a phone book today and it got me wondering when the last time I used one was. I couldn't remember. I've used the internet for years and Google text for the last couple of years. In this day and age it seems like such a waste of resources printing millions of books. So, when is the last time you used a phone book?

Re: When is the last time you used a phone book?

I used one to keep my kid from banging on a window. That was 1.5 years ago.

Is he not out of his coma yet?

I wondered about this too... they keep on sending it to me and I keep on putting it in recycling. I realize people pay good money to be listed. Do they still have regular listings or is it only just yellow pages these days?

Think the phone book is obsolete? THINK AGAIN. Try using Google for interrogations.

The one they sent me was just yellow pages. I still have no use for it.

On occasion, I've used the Yellow Pages. As far as the white pages in the book, it's been a long, long time. Most every number I use with any level of frequency is stored in my phone.

So they do still have white pages. I still think it's a huge scam that they charge you to NOT put your number in the directory.

I keep one around, but never use it.

NORML you should get a tattoo of a phone book with the American flag design on it!

It's been years. The go into either the compost or the recycling bin.

As an aside, never roll a joint with a phone book page.

Within the last month. Tear out about 10 pages, do that 5 or 6 times, roll them up, it helps a fire get going. Or at least burns fast and hot for about fifteen seconds, so it can work if the wood is dry enough.

Re: When is the last time you used a phone book?

I like to sniff the fresh pages when I get a new book, otherwise they are useless to me.

I do keep one at work, for the rare times we decide to order out and want to try a new restaurant.

Re: When is the last time you used a phone book?

I can see where they could come in handy, but they just need to stop sending them to anybody and everybody and only send them to people who request them.

Why just Google? I use the whole internet when I'm threatening an uncooperative suspect:

I haven't used a phone book in years. I keep them around just in case of emergencies, although if the type of emergency comes where I need a phone book, most likely the phones won't work either.

Re: When is the last time you used a phone book?

Last saturday, to check tsunami inundation zones. i wanted to see if the homes or workplaces of people i know were going to be affected. The more detailed maps on the pdc.org website wouldn't show because the server was getting hammered.
