I'm singled out in particular and -every- decision I make commented on, and other posters don't have that happen to them, so it does get tiring after a while. Not EVERYthing I post has to be analyzed and commented on and dissected and advice given on to the degree that it happens.

And cungar I said I just couldn't get together to just eat anymore and I'd love to go the movies and walks with them, but of course what else are you going to do but twist everything I say around so you can comment with your vitriol on it? We don't gather at people's houses, we gather at restaurants and talk while we eat and then leave to our houses. I want to change that because I don't want to have to go to a buffet in order to spend time with my family.

Deb, I mean this respectfully and for curiosity's sake only, could you please explain why you don't eat any vegetables?

I know I said I was done, but I would highly recommend consulting a doctor for ways to get over your aversion to vegetables. If you can find some way to integrate vegetables into your diet, you will be better for it.

That's been suggested at least 15 times.

No matter what you cannot be healthy without eating veggies.

Lose weight - sure, but just like someone here said earlier, you can lose a bunch on an ice cream diet, but you sure aren't going to be healthy!

Guess everyone has to realize that Deb just wants to lose weight - but being healthy isn't her goal.

Re: Biggest Loser III: The Thread for Diets, Exercise, Workouts, etc.

I couldn't find the new thread. I was in a panic! LOL

I had a good run. I'm so close. I thought about trying to go farther tonight...but no rush. I ran 28 minutes at 5.5 mpr (11m/mile). I also did a full 5 minute walking warm up and 5 minute cool down walk.

38 total minutes
472 calories burned
74% average HR
88% max HR

You know this C25K program is very cleaver if simple. At about 25 minutes I was getting spent and huffing and puffing slightly. But with only 3 minutes to finish, there was no way I was going to stop. And if I stick to finish the program next week, then if I get tired again at 28 minutes, I know there is no way I'm not finishing with only 2 minutes to go.

Of course technically I'll need to go 33 minutes to run the 5k, so I figure that out next week.

A family member gave us one of these for Christmas a few years ago.

http://www.powerjuicer.com/order-classic.html

I would have never bought one on my own, but as a gift, I tried it. It actually worked surprisingly well. I mainly used fruits and made some drinks for the kids. But I tried carrots and a spinach and a few other veggies. It was good. And I threw some ice and juice in a blender for a slush and it was good. Didn't use it all that much, but it did work.

I like my veggies grilled! I also like some steamed....

GatorDeb,

Just eat what you want, but reduce the portions and spread them out into 6 meals or so. And workout around 2-hrs a day and you should be doing rather well.

I'm starting on a new phase. It's an SAIS routine, and I have a trainer who knows his stuff. I've lost so much muscle, I need to actually reduce my cardio and increase my weight training.

Re: Biggest Loser III: The Thread for Diets, Exercise, Workouts, etc.

I'm not losing muscle, but I want to do weights 3 times a week and right now, I've "fallen" into a 2 times a week.

I want to continue to run 3 times a week. And that wears me out so much, I don't think I can add anything to it. And assuming I'll be at 33 minutes running next week some time + warm up and cool down with that, it will be close to 45 minute workout and I don't want to go over that time.

I like doing an hour of cardio on Sundays. A few extra calories burned and can watch a game or movie. I do elliptical so challenging, but not as worn out as running.

Of course I'd like to take a day off....humm....

Oh and I just had a Snickers bar...YUMMY!

Re: Biggest Loser III: The Thread for Diets, Exercise, Workouts, etc.

I just had some tortilla chips and Red Pepper Hummus.

If I want to continue my 3-hour routine in the mornings on the weekends, I was told I'll need to take an amino acid supplement so I won't burn muscle and counter-act my new weight training. Should be interesting how it goes. I'll post about my experiences. My first actual workout session is tomorrow.

Re: Biggest Loser III: The Thread for Diets, Exercise, Workouts, etc.

Okay, here are today's numbers:

60 minutes
5.33 miles
908 calories
206.4 lbs

Finally some movement in the right direction! Dropped 2.4 lbs since Wednesday when I was bitching about stagnation. I didn't run yesterday, but started doing yoga. I'm still a bit sore from that, but I think I'll keep doing it every other day and see how it works out, it might even help the stupid hip that I complain about so much.

Good news: Weight appears to be moving again, though I went to a sushi buffet tonight, so we'll see how that works

Bad (?) news: I ache ALL OVER from that yoga yesterday. It isn't painful, but it, combined with the 5+ miles I ran this afternoon are slowing me down. I'll get used to it. To the person who suggested I go to a yoga class: I would love nothing more, unfortunately I'm not able. Don't worry, I know my limitations, I think of all exercises as processes, I'll get into those poses someday, for now I do my best and try my hardest. Not giving up!

My goal (realistic of not) is to hit 180 by the New Year, that means about 27 lbs in 3 months. I've lost 28 lbs in 11 weeks, so it is possible, but I won't hang myself if I don't make it.

I've taken to the following general meal plan:

Breakfast:
3 eggs scrambled
3 pieces turkey bacon
1 piece of meat (steak, pork, chicken, etc) about 4-5 oz

Lunch
3 whole carrots
1 whole cucumber
1 turkey/havarti wrap with light mayo and mustard on a "Flat Out" bread

Dinner
Usually protein of some kind. Home made chili this week, also gonna grill some chicken breasts for the coming week. Sometimes veggies to go with, and that is about it.

Re: Biggest Loser III: The Thread for Diets, Exercise, Workouts, etc.

Wow...if your burning 900 calories 3-4 times a week, that just doesn't seem like enough food.

Today I had,

Breakfast
2 scrambled eggs with about 1/2 ounce of cheese
Yogurt

Lunch
Chick fil a - grilled club sandwich

Early dinner (prior to run)
6" subway. Turkey, no cheese, no dressing...extra veggies

Late dinner (after run)
6" subway. Roast Beef w/cheese, no dressing...extra veggies

Late snack
Snicker bar...LOL

Roughly 1,900 calories intake. W/about 460 calories burned from running/walking

That is a little light for me. I did that on purpose. Yesterday I had about 2,600 calories with no workout. Figure if good to mix up workouts now and again, probably good to mix up calorie intake now and again.

But there are no days that I'm burning 900 calories. That is just incredible....and awesome!

OMG, that sounds delicious. I'm pretending I didn't hear that because I have already eaten all I can today.

I did okay with eating today and survived a grad school/faculty luncheon, but I didn't do any walking. I was just too tired to get up this morning till 6, and then tonight, I decided to play Nintendo and watch My Fair Lady with my kids. First time I didn't walk at all in probably 6 weeks. I'll try to do better tomorrow. At least I'm not running downstairs to make some hummus, though I think I will tomorrow because that sounds really good and I have the garbanzo beans on hand.

Well I think you bring up a great point. If you not going to do both for whatever reason (eat balanced and lose weight) which has more
benefit? Probably is to lose weight. There probably is more benefit to that.

Having said that one will probably be more successful in losing weight with a balanced diet. And maybe wouldn't have as much to lose if ate healthier (there is no doubt that was part of my issue. I literally gained 25lbs by eating fries and drinking C0kes).

However I'll agree with you and probably got a little snippy yesterday (sorry Deb). Losing weight and having a healthier life style is a process. It is not an overnight fix for most people. I certainly didn't go from Super Size fries one night to steamed broccoli the next. I also believe that those who are successful take it one step at a time. And as you have success you build on those successes. Heck I lost most of my weight before I started running or purposefully doing wreights. I wish I had done some of that earlier but I wasn't "there" for a variety of reasons. Based on what I have read most of us are not or have not tried to lose 10 lbs. We are looking for significant weight loss which takes time, adjustments and is a process.

So came home from working out of town and hoped on the scale. Somehow I gained a pound this week...LOL....not sure how...could have been that Snicker's bar I guess...LMAO...ah well still heading in the right direction. Will get locked in starting on Monday for my final month push for my goal. Still down right at 73 pounds.

Are you running now? I felt pretty good about the idea till I looked around at the site for registration and looked at the times of laster year runners...LOL....But I guess that is not really the point. Especially for the first one. I should do it. I mean it is "only" 3 miles. And it is labeled a run/walk so it shouldn't be overly competitive. Course if the times I saw from last year are for a "fun run" I'd hate to see a competitive race!!

21 lbs according to home scale!! 215 -> 194 lbs. 11.5 more and I will reach the weight I reached with the South Beach Diet. 13 weeks so that's 1.615 lbs a week.

Re: Biggest Loser III: The Thread for Diets, Exercise, Workouts, etc.

So daughter had a small after homecoming after party at the house. So I ordered pizza for the kids. at midnight. OMG....I pigged out! LMAO....I had 4-5 pieces! OMG....I bet I ended up having close to half a pizza!!! LMAO....I don't know what my issue was....just one of those pig out things that I haven't done in MONTHS....

Only saving grace was I stuck thin crust cheese pizza. But that was mainly because the only place I could make it to, to get pizza that late was Pizza Hut and I don't really like any of their meats....

Guess it will be a full hour + at the gym today. I ate that at about 2 in the morning and I'm guessing I've already had 80-90% of my normal calorie intake for the day...LOL Ah well...if you can't go wild once in a while...but going wild on Pizza Hut pizza....lol...I should have saved it for steak with garlic butter or something...lol

That is a nice weekly average. Most everything I have read for safe and successful weight loss it to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. Looks like you are dead center of that.

I got an indirect compliment at work. We were going to do a Biggest Loser type contest but no one joined because they said I would win.
