Re: Blood In The Stool?

I get this once every couple a months, maybe a little longer between. Looks like I took a cherry Mio and squirted it into the toilet. Usually it's after gorging on meat (buffet, bbq, etc).

Re: Blood In The Stool?

i've found that since i'm lactose intolerant, if i eat a meal with a bunch of dairy, i'll sometimes have some blood. apparently that's a symptom. guess that's the price you have to pay for having some ice cream and cheese.

Re: Blood In The Stool?

If you have bright red blood in your stool, chances are it's something like a hemorrhoid, fissure, or tear.

That, or you haven't been using enough lube when you're receiving anal.

I'm hoping that is the case, as I'd prefer to not have to have the colonoscopy, if at all possible, haha.

I'm still inclined to believe it is one of those first 3 choices as well. I'm just having a tough time figuring out how my doctor didn't see or feel anything back there.
And the only anal I've received of late was from the doc on Wednesday. Plenty of lube

Re: Blood In The Stool?

FWIW, I can't think of anyone I know who has had colon cancer who has passed bright red blood.

I was under the impression that the brighter the red, the closer to the exit the source is.

Re: Blood In The Stool?

The dark red stuff is what you have to worry about. If it's bright red then you're generally okay.

I bleed out of my ass a lot, it's not a big deal.

Re: Blood In The Stool?

I definitely feel as though the bleeding is slowing down quite a bit. When it first started, I'd hear it dripping into the water below. I haven't had that in a few days. It looks as though there has been quite a bit less in the bowl too. I have been taking hot baths for the past few days and haven't had any Advil or anything really spicy for the better part of the week.

The fact that there was enough blood to drip would honestly worry me.

I was freaked out. Big time. That's why I scheduled the doctor appointment before posting here, haha.

As of my last 2 bowel movements, there has been no blood. I am beyond happy.

Are your BM's painful? Are you experiencing constipation like symptoms? I was and you know what worked? Ruffage. Eat a salad once in a while and eat an apple every day, or at least every other day. Ya gots to be regular son.

Re: Blood In The Stool?

No, my movements aren't usually painful. Constipation is never a problem. Hell, I've gone 3 times already today and could probably manage another before the night is through.

That's because you got ass raped by the people who had you sign a 20 percent interest loan for your car.

Re: Blood In The Stool?

I had my follow-up with the GI doctor today. He is pretty much feeling that it is an internal hemorrhoid. He still wants to go through with the colonoscopy to confirm so if anything similar occurs, we don't have to panic. Got that appointment set up for about 4 weeks from now.

Re: Blood In The Stool?

The color of the blood in your stool doesn't tell you anything about the likelihood of cancer. It just gives you an idea in general where the source of the bleeding is. If it's black and tarry, the bleeding is generally from higher up in the GI tract - as high up as the stomach and esophagus. If it's closer to the end of the colon or rectum, it's more likely to be bright red. The color just indicates how much digestion the blood has been through. The blackness is from oxidized iron which is from the heme in your red blood cells. So if you were to ingest a lot of iron pill supplements, you'd get black stools.

By overall odds, bright red blood is more likely to be from things like hemorrhoids, diverticuli, colitis (infections), or polyps (which, depending on the type, may be precancerous or indicate an increased risk of cancer). Cancer is less likely ON AVERAGE. But of course, you may not be the average person and thus the odds shift depending on things like your age, lifestyle, and family history. If you're a 65 year old who eats a typical Western diet, high in red meat, low in fiber, and had a father who died of colon cancer at 60, red blood in your stool would be concerning and would definitely warrant a colonoscopy. In a 30 yo with blood in the stool, cancer is just about the last thing a doc would guess (though I've seen it).

I'm 35, and to the best of my knowledge, there is no history of colon cancer in my family. My doctor told me that he'd pretty much rule out anything cancerous, but would rather overtest me to be certain.

That way, while I'm under, he'll can enjoy shoving it to me, more ways than one. Got that appointment set up for about 4 weeks from now.

Actually, this was before the 20% car loan. I got that in 2011. But thanks for bringing it up again. You reminded me to make my last payment and pay the sucker off.

Whatever will you dig up now? My old Amazon "ban?" Perhaps my moving thread. My noisy neighbors posting? How about when my Dad died?
