I was a student when i joined so had plenty of spare time to post
Who remembers old Soup Nazi and his posting frenzy !
I do miss Kenwood, i would hope he has sometime over the years joined up under a new name, top bloke.

Wow- I didn't join til 10/2/99, though I'm sure I was reading it a few months before that (on a Sega Saturn with Netlink!) and didn't register til I had something to post. (Was a bit surprised no one else had taken this username yet!) I still do a lot more reading than posting, don't usually say anything unless it's important and actually adds to the conversation.
Bought into the DVD format Labor Day weekend 1998, after swearing that I would never support the format and forever stick by my beloved laserdisc, which DVD was quickly killing off. First player which I still have and use is a DVD/Laserdisc combo player, which I bought with a new sound system which I went into debt and had to get a second job to pay for. I missed out on most of the early deals since I couldn't put any more money on my credit card til it was all paid off- couldn't even do the 800.com 3-for-$1 deal.

I just passed my 10 year mark - I rarely post anymore, but I read the forum all the time. This site was great to me back in the day. I remember keeping an average of how much I paid for DVD's and thanks to DVDtalk back in '99, my first 50 averaged under $5 each.
I only met another DVDtalk'er once - I saw a movie with Dark Elf (still out there buddy?) and his wife at Pentagon City in Arlington VA. Can't remember the movie though - I want to say it was American Beauty. My participation in the site dropped off right after I hit 500 posts, but I have never been very prolific. OD, do I take the restraint trophy?
Hell, I remember even getting a few free golf clubs from the bargains forum here! Remember that craziness? What was that all about?!
Now, I have to admit, I mostly lurk - I only post when I have a question about a movie, or something along those lines. Thanks to everyone for the help through the years, and congrats to the decaders!
