Beard beard beard. Beard is the word.

Every year on Thanksgiving day I start growing my winterbeard, but this year I bucked tradition and started it a week earlier than usual.

At the suggestion of a friend, I'm actually using product in my beard this time (so my face can be steeped in douchebaggery). I splurged on this stuff and it seems to be working. I have significantly fewer itching fits this go round, which is worth the cost, IMO.

So, who else grows a beard during these dark, cold days of winter?

You don't? Need a reason to? How about 10 very good reasons?

I was rocking a monster beard for a few months now. My mom made me trim it for Thanksgiving

So now its trim and looking pretty sharp but I have no intention of shaving it until the warmer days come around.

What is that bluebeard product, what exactly does it do? Just keep it from itching too much or does it actually make it look better?

I started growing a beard in January and shaved it off mid October for my Halloween costume. Last week I started growing it back. Two other guys in my office are also growing beards. Maybe we'll become lumberjacks.

I usually keep my beard trimmed but I let it go for two months once. After a few "Grizzly Adams" comments I decided that the big beard was not for me.

I have not been clean shaven for 14 years -- I can only imagine how pastey my face is now.

Here's what they posted on their site.

Beard Saver:

This daily skin and facial hair lotion acts as an outstanding anti-itch and conditioner for new growth. And for the established beard, just a dab rubbed throughout the facial hair, from root to tip, will manage even the most unruly facial hair. With aloe vera to soothe and protect, and lime essential oils, which helps to dissolve oils trapped by whiskers. Great for both your scruff and your skin.
Beard Wash:

When used on the beard, traditional shampoo can dry the skin underneath; facial soap leaves sticky residue behind. That’s why we’ve created our Beard Wash, which gently cleanses both facial hair and the sensitive skin underneath, leaving both beard and face clean, soft and smelling great.
My friend swears by this stuff. I've had considerably less itching, so I guess it's doing what it's supposed to. The Beard Saver container also says something about promoting beard growth and fullness, but it's still early on in my beardedness, so I can't vouch for that claim.

Ordered it. I'm willing to give it a shot. Just went the beard saver for now. I'm not trying for the lumberjack look. I'm Pakistani so full beard does not equal lumberjack it equals terrorist. Fucking terrorists ruined the look for me.

Me neither. My family supposedly has too much Native American in our bloodline. Nobody can grow a beard.

I don't technically grow a beard (nor can I grow a full one) but I usually shave only when it itches. That's about every 3 weeks.

I thought Venusian was a lady for some reason.

I might try that beard wash. I have shaved fully clean once in the past 12 years and my skin did not take well to seeing the sun again.

I grew a mustache/goatee lookin thingy last winter and quite enjoyed the reduction in shaving that needed to be done. Maybe I'll go for the whole Grizzly Adams package this winter...

When I shaved off my beard last week I left a horseshoe moustache for a day. My friends said it looked 'badass" and it made me want to go out and gun down the Clanton gang.

I hate shaving, but I also hate the itchiness I would get when trying to grow it out to avoid shaving and would cave in before seeing how much beard I could grow. Maybe this is the solution since when it's in the middle phases of growth that I get shit from my bosses.
