Wow.

Emptied an AK through a door on Halloween because of people in masks.

HAS to be amphetamine paranoia/psychosis involved here.

I am for gun rights, I actually think people should own semi automatic weapons if they want too. But come on now, this is crazy...this guy should be charged with someone. At least put in a crazy house, because that is not normal.

Did you even read the article?

"Quentin Patrick, 22, has been charged with murder and three counts of assault and battery with intent to kill."

The guy was a convicted felon who wasn't allowed to own firearms. He's going away for a long time....

Trailer park? Felon in illegal possession of firearms?

Not Florida!

Ronnie, I know people with more than a couple of AKs. As firearms go, they're pretty neat. Of course, they're law-abiding folks who advocate safe and responsible gun ownership, not some ex-con methtard.

I kind of thought most people who owned more than a couple weapons had an AK.

If I might ask a serious question to those who own an AK-47 or similar weapon - What do you do with it? I ask this as someone who is not anti-gun, just not a gun owner, although I have no problem with people owning guns - hunting, home protection, whatever. But, I don't know what an AK-47 is for, other than what I see on TV. So, I'm curious: What do you do with it?

Target practice. There was a place in Kentucky that I used to go to. Ammo was expensive as hell though.

Yes, and incidents like this one seem to always make things worse off for everybody. Parents start having irrational fears of pretty much everything and kids begin to develop anxiety problems because of their parents. Nobody feels safe, even during events that are supposed to be fun. People just fail to realize that it's impossible to foresee all potential tradgedies that may occur. It's really a shame that people have to even consider these horrific events as possibilities for the future.

What almost all firearms owners do. Punch holes in paper.

Nah, guns are a red herring. The real clue is transportation. Wheel size is inversely proportional to package size. (it's true--guys who buy giant tires think women don't know these things, but we do).

I use mine for target practice, just like the other guns I own. The ammo is comparatively cheap (around $180 for 1000 rounds), the rifle itself was fairly low priced and it's a lot of fun to shoot. I'm not a hunter but I do know people who hunt with an AK as well. The bottom line is that even though a lot of people seem to think the ak "looks evil" it does the same basic thing as any other firearm out there.
